As has been stated several times, Hollytree needs a good group of wheelers to cut, hack, and run over some new rock digger trails! And like also mentioned, it would be better to do it while it's cold before all the vegetation starts to grow up and get thick. So let's discuss what would be a good time for everyone and a good weekend that's ok with the owner. I don't know the owner, first time I met him was last weekend, but sounds like some of you know him. What's yall's input on this? We can talk about it all we want, but until something is organized, nothing is gonna happen molaugh

I most likely can only make an all day Saturday to do this, possibly a Sunday as well, but it's iffy. I only get 2 day weekends which doesn't leave me much time to catch up on anything else. I have a brand new chainsaw and Chad (Zukimaster) said he has a chainsaw, so there's two of us that's ready to plan a date.

I know for a fact I will be out of town Jan. 25-27, but so far I think I can make just about any other Saturday work besides the Feb. Jam at Hale Mtn. As of now I plan to make that ride.

And I'm not trying to pressure or push this workday, just figured I'd take the first step in organizing it since it seems that there's several people that feel strongly about the topic and it has been mentioned several times.

Let's hear everybody's opinions and suggestions on the best way to go about this. :drinkers:

I may been in. Have to be in a few more weeks my wife
had surgery to day so have to let her recover. Will it be just work or riding also? An i have a saw also

Kinda have to ride in order to get to the places to work so ain't like you would be walking around all day with a machette and a chainsaw molaugh

I'm just waiting to hear everyone else's opinions. :drinkers:

I was waitin' on you or Ricky to chime in with that **** :****: My drinkin priorities mixed with all the other fawkers there that wasn't motivated to do much work kinda rurnt that :flipoff1: Ricky and you was about the only ones that done any work down there molaugh I just provided the chainsaw

Where is Holy Tree and do u have pics of what area you want to do work on? It really depends on who you have working. You would be amazed what can be done with just a bow saw a pair of clippers and a rake. LOL ;D

Here is a link to the New Year's ride thread that we went on at Hollytree. It has all the park info and several pics/vids of the park and type of terrain that is there. There are tons and tons of cool rock ledges there that would make sweet obstacles, you just can't get to them without cutting out some small trees. There aren't really a ton of big trees in the way of most of the stuff (that I remember anyway).

I'm in for most saturday except first weekend in Feb. (Hale mtn Feb jam). Having "minor" heart surgery (if those words go together) sometime in Feb. Not sure exactly when yet. I'll suggest Jan 12th or 19th as long as the park owner is game. I think he would be.

Yup, I was thinking those dates also. Or if the 26th is better for everyone, don't let the fact that I'll be out of town hold anyone back from organizing it. I assure you I won't be as much help as an average 2 legged person. Hard for me to walk on uneven ground. :****: Good luck with the heart surgery, anything like that is never minor!

I'm also thinking about making the Choccolocco ride for the SxS and bounty hill challenge the 12th, but not certain on that one yet.

Thanks for starting this thread JD. thumb.gif I will go talk to Russ (the owner) this weekend and see what he thinks. I'm gonna say that anyone who wants to volunteer to come help cut trails would be welcome anytime. He has a nice place and the access roads are already there. He needs to get people out there who know what to look for and clear more "obstacle trails". The terrain is perfect, we just need to get some trees out of the way and some tires on it.

As far as planning a "big" day to get a lot of people together to come out and help, I was thinking about maybe a saturday in late Feb. Maybe the 23rd? I'm gonna be deer hunting this month, and be at Hale Mtn for the Feb Jam. I figure there are a lot of others around here who will be doing the same.

That would work good for me. Late feb. We could stay the weekend.
Work one day an doin testing the next day.lol

Lets set a date in February - I'm in

We scoped out some stuff on the "other side of the road" last time I was there, I'm down for a Cut/Camp/Wheel weekend

We been cutting trails at GMP and some local spots, and I found that carrying a chainsaw in a rockcrawler was a PITA.

SO I got a sweet chainsaw hardcase, it's square, holds tools and oil, and is easy to strap down. and it was only $35-40

My ole shitty Poulan Pro I bought from Lowes came with one of those hardcases ^^^ Late Feb sounds good to me, def will be alot more free weekends for me in Feb.
