d44 or gm10?

the rigs 1/2ton 79 k5 blazer ive always assumed I have d44 but I was told they didnt come with 6 lugs in chevys. Did the 10bolt even come in 79? How do u tell them apart?

If the cover looks like that, then its a 44, if not then you got a 10 bolt

78, 79,are the change over years. I have a '78 3/4T with a 10-bolt in the front, but I've heard/seen 79's with D44's in the front.

After '79 1/2 tons and 3/4 tons both got 10-bolts, so 6 lug ot 8 lug.
