I tried pushing this very same thing back in the fall with the DNR. My feelings was it would help out alot up there.... I would also like to see a gate at the dear flats turn off at reiter road....

At the next left after the Upper Staging Area/Rock Garden, correct? The main gravel road leading up to the The Wall Trail, BYS, Index Wall Lookout, etc.

That would be fantastic and complete the necessary blockades. Push for it Mike! We're behind you!

The bike guys might not like that though. They like to park up there for their "meets". But it would be better for the ORV community, as a whole.:awesomework:

Yes thats the spot. That would not only keep the folks that don't need to be there but would aid in the DNR and enforcement.

But yes alot of bikers like to park in that area--but I feel the good it will do will outweight the bad....

I like the idea of of portable toilets..keeps people away from my pool!..:kissmybutt::beer:and stepping on the pretty white flowers next to turds in the woods....:puke:

So I've been out of the loop for a bit being that I went off to school and all. But May Creek / Lake Issy is still accessible to ORV's correct? I was thinking about heading up that way myself and I haven't been up there since I did a January run with a bunch of guys on here 4 years ago.

Sorry to be so far out of the loop. I was thinking of riding shotgun with a few friends in their jeeps to head over that way. I've got all the trails plotted fron a GPS waypoint off another site and from what I've read on the trailwatch site and others its still open to ORV access? I went up to Reiter this year in January for the first time in years and some guy mentioned there was a fine now for crossing the river, which was fine at the time since I was in an almost stock rig on 31's so I wasn't going for it anyway.

Good to hear things are improving up there. Last I heard/ saw it was getting a bit over crowded with people looking for access to the area.

The new rules will definitely help out the good and keep away the bad. Reiter is awesome and I look forward to the changes from a free for all place, to an official ORV park.

upper area by Rock Garden.

BTW the main lot one already had beer cans in them.

the shuefly for the main gate gate is just to the left before entering that road.

I sure hope the toilets don't get destroyed. It amazes me how people would rather destroy something that will help them, then take care of it so they can use it. I guess they don't seem to think ahead... hmm if I don't destroy it, I can **** in the toilet. If I do, I **** in the woods..

it's to bad you can't advertize things like n.w.w up there and get even more peeps to join here and then maby it would be easier to recognize the trouble makers because they would be posting on here? not sure

.....and not that I ever had an issue with them or that I think they should be kept out of the area.......but we (most likely) won't be seeing any hikers/rock climbers on the OM anymore. Or on the Lake Isabel Trail for that fact.

I'm chalking up this one as a WIN:cheer: for ORV users.

:haha:

Only the lazy ones......Except the lazy ones are not the ones accessing these area's.

I had the same thought...no mention of RTW or WOW support? Why not? The PNW4WDA is specifically mentioned :eeek:

Most likely the reason is the PNW has been recognized for years, and the others are new groups...not yet widely known... which Is why we should pool EVERYONE together as one group (Power in Numbers Folks!!!) to fight the things such as what's happened w/ the NOVA funds...and the Issues at ALL ORV PARKS!!!

I totally agree! All of our groups have the same issues to handle . Some have been around awhile. This is a very important time in our sport. When all they groups show up to the events, the public and officials see that we are very serious about maintaning and inproving out ORV Parks and creating new one like Reiter.

Here a a couple more fliers the DNR handed out at the May RTW meeting. These will also be handed out at Reiter on weekends.

just a thought
first tight ass was closed
then a cable barrier at the wall
then sign's went up and then
no fires on the ground from DNR
To NO FIRES at all from the sheriff
then ecology blocks go in
now more signs and more rules
about where and when
now gates are being closed
whole user groups are being cut off
and people are happy about it ????

did those college kids who (used to) drive they're VW vans and subaru outbacks up to the boulder fields at the start of the outlet mall
Really deserved to be locked out ??
they've been going up there longer then the outlat mall has been around
thats just one group that comes to mind
there are more I'm sure,
why cheer when everybody loses ?
if you look at this trend there is only one conclusion
and that is that good ol reiter pit is dead!
its only gonna get more regulated
its not gonna get better
its gonna get smaller
the areas that they allow to wheelers will get smaller and smaller
and those will have more and more traffic
and more damage
and more reason for DNR to close or restrict the areas left to 4wd's

i guess the hikers and horse riders will cheer when we get locked out too
just like some who cheer at the news that gates are being locked
to block out some OTHER group
just not the group (I) belong to.

forest pass ?

I wouldn't mind buying a Northwest forest pass, or something like that too give funding to keep reiter going. Has anyone considered that. It would also keep alot of people who shouldn't be in their out when they started to get tickets for not having a pass?

its a good thing the anti 4x4 folks at the DNR are so good at hiring good friendly folks to make takin it away even easier.:hi:

You expect things to stay the same? You have been alive what--a long time so like anything--it changes wether for the good or bad..

Nobody is locked out---people can get a wheeler and still make it to the same areas.

With that said I want more gates with gate keepers to keep those who simply don't belong out of our play areas..
