Evans Creek May 16

I am curious if anyone knows if I can get my R.V. into the campground yet, or if it is still snowed in? I am looking forward to heading up there, but would like to stay for the weekend.

Way too much snow getting to the campground and at the campground. I'm guessing Mid to late June unless we get really warm weather for a long period.

The campground is still completly covered. The main road to the lower parking lot at the start off the 311 is clear of all snow. The road from lower parking to the campground is still covered with a lot of snow. The only two trails that are free of snow are the 102 and lower 311.

This is as of 5-3-09

I was told that guys with buggys and truggys were geting tickets out their is that true? Have they shut down some trails too?

Only for getting caught with a non street legal vehicle on the roads. None of the trails are closed except due to snow and being impassable

We made it to the last corner @ 311A. Walked up it to find about 6' of melting snow. Decided that it wasn't the best idea to continue up. Turned around and broke a "J" arm on my rig. Pulled the repaired spare out of the box and swapped them out. Only to get to the camp ground and have it break. Pulled the original broken one out and proceded to weld it up. Several cameras were there so I hope someone will drop out some pics. The repaired "J" arm got me home without further incident.

The entrance continues to give some fits. Some guys were trying to make a bypass to the left of the entrance. I asked them "strongly" to cease and desist. The stopped and went back to stuggling up the entrance. It appears some local party-goers decided to cut down a couple of trees in the parking lot for a bonfire. When are you planning the clean-up Grant? I think we should try to get the cut down tree up to block the by-pass.

The nice weather sure brought out the Darwins nominees. Be careful up there as the snow is melting fast everywhere.

So, who has pics?

I'll be interested in the next cleanup/ work weekend up there too.

Sounds like a fun day, but I'm definitely going to have to wait till more/ all the snow melts before I go up there.

Hey MarkM dosent this sound familiar :haha: many moons ago:booo: Damn that was a long day but good times none the less.

The work party will be on the weekend of june 27th and 28th. Come for both days and you will get your season trailpass for the year :cheer:

Question... what if you already have a 2009 pass? Would this qualify for 2010?

Yes, at least in years past. You get a (volunteer)day pass for each day that you come to the work party you can turn in two day (volunteer)passes to get a season pass. The season passes are punched out when you get them but the day passes are not. So you can (I have) save them for another year or give them to friends. Also note that several districts Forest Service use this system so if you get a daypass from the WP at Evans and then one from Naches you can still turn them in for a season pass at a ranger station. The season pass gets punched when you recieve it and is good for 12 months.

I also want to thank everyone. Greg, Jeff and Mark for all your assistance. I think the last one will make a good spare. It held up nicely. The outdoors tempering definitely did the trick!!

Another great day to wheel. The snow is deep and it really sucked when it got warm outside.
