4wd vans

Are cool.

My co-worker Jim just bought this baby from a guy in Bonney Lake (he said the guy had a CJ with 60's... maybe he's on here?)

It's a '79 E-250 Pathfinder conversion with a 60 out back and a HP44 up front. Neat rig, he's going to make it into a weekend camping tow rig for his Jeep.

After I get my current Jeep project finished, I think I'm going to throw a D44 under the front of the '79 chevy van I drove in high school. I've got a 205 to shoehorn in there, just need to find some leafs and misc. other parts.

Tony in our club is puttin' one together! Actually, he bought a 77 3/4T 4x4 Van with a freshish 460, but the body is rough, so he bought a really nice 2wd,also with a 460 for the body...Will post up pics when he finishes it...His plan is to use it for short trip overnighters (Walker/reiter/Swap Meet hauler, etc...) so he doesn't have to drive his MH up to the upper staging area at Reiter (Our trip there in April is what prompted this build...)

When I worked at the wrecking yard I stumbled upon a 2wd th350 with a pathfinder cast iron adapter on the back of it. the adapter is designed so you don't have to change output shafts to put a 205 behind it. I pulled the adapter and put it inside the shop so it wouldn't get ruined... Chances are it's still right where I left it if you're interested...

Heck yeah, if you get a chance see if it's still there. Otherwise, a 4wd TH350 should be pretty easy to come by when I get around to this project.

4wd vans are the shiz.
ide take one over a suburban any day. i love sitting over the front like that. would be a blast to chop one up and wheel it.

How much work is that type of conversion? I have a 76 E-250 that my folks bought brand new. Me and a buddy were staring at it in my back yard this weekend thinking about a monster garage project. How difficult is it and how much you guys think it would cost? Thanks for any input!:beer:

Depends on what parts you got and how much fabrication you can do. If I ever get rolling on my project, it won't cost much since I have most of the parts already and will horse trade for the rest, and have the skills to fabricate stuff.

The van in the pic is set up with coils and radius arms like an F-150 or bronco of that era, but I would use leaf springs if I was going to do a conversion like that myself, as long as there was room.
