May 16 is at this time the day that is set up to mark trails. But Reiter is open to foot traffic and anyone can walk and explore trail options.
And as a lot of people had some opinions of what DNR was going to do for trail design, I also did. A group of us did get together this last weekend and made a section of trail for demo to show DNR what we wanted and to see if they were on board with what we wanted.
The trail is tough and was set up to be that way. This is the hardest trail but 80 % of the trails wouldn

Sweet---although that concept trail pretty much is a pipe dream for a rig such as mine...but very cool to see!!!! hell, a baby version of that I'd try!!!:haha:

And that will be there. we just wanted to see if we could build a trail this tough. I think we got there on the average 3 ft per minute, Stan and David from DNR liked what they saw. Now it is on to show and tell for others to see, that we can build a trail of this caliper and it is safe:awesomework:

This is very good news. I like what I see. My primary concern for the outcome of Reiter has always been the difficulty of what we get back. It will remain my top issue until I wheel it again.

Just make sure to thank those who have made this happen--put forth effort into the prodject--not those who sait around there keyboards nd beat there chests...

Had the DNR done what they wanted we would all be in a different state of affairs..

I just have one quick question.

Are the obstacles going to be man made or natural?

Man made obstacles are cool and all, but most of them turn out pretty lame. The natural obstacles are way more better and for the most part survive pretty damn well. :awesomework:

This has been discussed and the answer is nobody knows for sure at this point. I think it will be some of both.

As Rick said we are not sure yet Karl. The areas (section 1&2) offer some good natural obstacles and we are fortunate to get those areas for 4x4 use.

We are just stepping it up a notch to see if we can get man made type of obstacles on the trails in areas.

This whole concept if totaly new to the DNR..

Most will be man made with the land we are given not a whole lot to work with other then elevation but with the right equipment and less hands in the design I bet I could build you a trail you couldn't do with out winching or very very careful driving

Allan I never forget, but the trail designer is doing a great job. I am no artist but I am thinking about it. Here is a pic that I did. I hope that you can get some sort of what I was thinking with it

Charlie, maybe surround the boulder filed with something that will keep them contained. My worry would be that the rocks will be spread out over time. Maybe surounded by logs with keeper stones on the corners?

Just a thought.
