Here's yer sign

Thanks to the guys who helped me with a pic of this. This is for the people that have been backroom complaining about the direction of the Rainier Vista.

Apparently there are some that are upset that the little tire vehicle won't be able to run the Rainier Vista any longer. So to be perfectly clear, here's yer sign.

This is a trail built for large tire, highly modified vehicles. It is dedicated to be on par with the busy wild and it's being done under the direction and in agreement with Nancy Barker of the DNR.

No doubt. That sign has been a joke since it was installed. Before Sat. a stock Cherocar full of tweakers could drive that trail end to end. It's only starting to reach it's billing!

You missed the point on this. There are some people who apparently don't like what we're doing to this trail. They want those stock cherokees to still be able to run the trail. They don't mind a few obstacles for those that want something harder, as long as it doesn't interfere with the previous usage of the trail.

I talked to a couple Jeep guys today. They ran the trail a couple months ago and thought someone put up the wrong signs because they did it in 2wd. I explained to them that volunteers are working to make the trail more interesting and challenging.

The 9 Road is rougher then the Rainier Vista was.

I didn't miss the point. I was trying to reinforce you're point. That trail is becoming what it was meant to be.

No Dale your missing the poit. Theres no argument about the trail rating and the fact that it was re-designated to be a harder trail. The issue I talked to Joe about in our "secret backroom meeting":haha: was that there are supposed to be hardend bypasses around the hard obstacles to aid with recovery so the trail dosent become a cluster if someone breakes down on the trail. The entrance to the busy is the prime example of why this needs to happen. To me it dosent sound like in your reports on here that that is whats happening with the trail. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong but its just the way it sounds. Proper design of the trail will go a long way in keeping it open. If bypasses arnt planned for they will happen on their own and that just means a lot more work to keep them open.

There is a bypass in place. You can still get around the rocks in 2wd.

Horus is correct, other than gatekeeper obstacles the most difficult obstacles are being placed where bypasses already exist. If you can get by the gatekeepers you can navigate the main sections of the trail.

The Rainier Vista doesn't have the severe erosion issues seen on other trails. In fact, some dirt erosion will be good for this trail. The water runoff down the trail right now is helping to expose the underlying rock. Not far under that dirt is a good layer of natural rock that will enhance this trail.
