Hey i wanted to let you guys know about this race thats coming up in Columbus MT. Columbus is about 50 miles east of Billings. Last year was a blast and this year is going to be even better i think. I was told by the promoters if i can get enough rockcrawler koh style rigs to show up we can get our own class and they will even build a rock sections in a old quarry for us to race thru along with the 80 miles of go fast stuff. If you guys have any questions let me know!

some of those guys race with us but that is more of the corr style track they race. This race is more baja like. You have a fast open section then you head up into the mountains and have tight sections with hillclimbs and fast corners.

here are some pics of last years race. Last year was later in the year and there was snow on the ground.

so anyone interested on here? I can get the rules and class break downs it you would like. Right now there are three classes and rock crawlers get but into unlimited or pro. If we can get enought we will try to get our own class. But if not its fun to race in the unlimited!

Racing against unlimited buggies is fun but not competitive as I found out last weekend.
Race looks like fun.:awesomework:

Well i won this race last year in my krawler and finished third at the last race and it was won by a krawler also. The unlimited class doesnt have any baja buggies in it. Usually only race trucks.

There was a class 1 in my class last week. Needless to say......well I won't even say it.:haha:
I heard about this race a few weeks ago but I have other plans for that weekend.

Im heading over next weekend to help them get a course figured out. They guys putting on the race are baja guys and really dont have any idea what they should set up for us. I think its going to be alot of tight gully and hill climbs and then through the quarry they have on course and of course fast stuff!!! Any one interested in doing this?

Depends on what type of animal you are looking for. Kind of flat in that part of Montana vs the west side of the state (real mountains).

I would love to do this. But it might be a year or two before its a reality (distance and having a rig together that it worthy of the drive).

I'd be on one of the "truck classes", trying to kick Tom Mandera's ass (old friend).

Keep posting info though, definitely looks like fun and I would not be surprised to find a couple of WA guys head that way next year, especially if they can get a date picked out early enough so folks can save the spot on their calendars!!

Ok the race is over. Sorry it took so long to get back on here. The race was awesome! we had 7 in our class. I had the lead and was putting some distance between my buddy Jason Paule (twisted customs) and all of a sudden i lost the drivers side rear tire and wheel. Never hit anything just boom and there was the tire flying past me and off the mountain. We stopped checked out the damage. It sheared all 6 studs clean off and then we noticed tranny fluid on the ground. The seal behind the torque converter let go and was puking fluid. It was kind of a good thing that i stopped otherwise i would of burned up a $4000 dollar tranny! My buddy jason went on to win it.
Next year they are planning on having a 4 race series with koh style courses for our class when they can. I will get some pics up here soon.
