My front d-line disconnected at full droop wheelin this weekend causing it to bash rocks ruining it, when i rebuild it i want a longer slip. I bought a used long slip d-line off a memeber on the board and was told it was a 10" i measure the splines out to be 8". Anyone know the measurements on a TG or Marlin male spline section? For anyone wondering i run 3" compression and 5" extension now.

why not just put a limit strap on the diff so it cant droop enough to fall out?

It can still articulate just fine without the diff falling out.

why not just go onto trail gear or marlins site and read the info your self:eeek: not tryin to be a **** but it's just that simple... marlin used to sell an 8in slip. i think now they are all either 10 or 12

To be honest i hadn't thought of that. I was thinking getting maximum arliculation out of my set up. I have been looking around on pirate and guys runnin my set-up (51" ruf) have been needing 14" of slip? Seems way unrealistic with out running a pos square shaft.

For not tryin to be a **** you sure come off as one. Its not that simple neither site says how long the splines are. But thanks for the info on the old marlin one being 8"

I have third gen rears up front (the longest usable ones made by toyota) and I have a stock slipyoke (5 inch)

I have alot more travel than most rigs and I never have tightened up the limit strap while flexing. When one tire goes up, the other tire goes down and the diff doesnt really move much at all. So the strap doesnt affect flex at all.

It only gets tight when jumping or wheeling off of a mound or hill climb.

Never do you want both front tires to fall out of the front of a leaf toy unless its a baja rig for jumping.

If a limit strap is bad, then why do guys have suck down winches?

Thanks that all makes sense . One question i got for ya since your running the same front leafs....how much up/down travel do you have and are you runnin a HP front diff cause i know that helps some.

I can completely extend one shock and collapse the other. This is with 15 inch travel shocks up front.

I have a hipinion diff too, but ran this system for about a year with a lopinion also. I went to a hipinion because I got tired of killing R&Ps and wanted the added strength of the hipinion using the drive side of the gear.

I have built several trucks with a strap on lo pinions that work killer with alot of flex. My roomate runs a loP with a stock slip too.

The only time I ever install long slips are when I cant talk sense into an owner.

Look at the droop, the tire is hanging out of the wheelwell at least two feet.

Look at the stuff, the tire is IN the wheelwell. Over two feet of travel.

Front driveline is cheap, stock, reliable and made in Japan, not China.

Brad im all ears... considering it only ruined the female side and i have a few stock spares. Any chance i can get a pic of how your limit straps are set up?

Brad, what are you using as a strap???

Straps are not good, they stretch and keep getting longer. They are hard to fine tine lenghtwise too.

I use chain. Its adjustable, free (if you cant get a foot of chain for free, your a goober) and strong and doesnt flex.

Wrap it with elec tape and it stay quiet too.

Dont weld it to the diff and frame. Weld one end and bolt the other end to a shock tab so it can be removed or adjusted if needed.

On a toyota I usually beef the passenger motor mount and add a tab on the framerail and top of diff and add the chain, done.

just a tab on the side of the frame and a tab on the top of the diff connected with a chain.

Im all about the expensive complicated fixes, ya know.

This is the best pic I have of the drivetrain.:redneck:
