It was brought up anyone with a GPS that would like to help to get in contact with David Way and he can send files of the areas. I would love to see something "official" become of the "unofficial" bouldering (short technical rock climbs) area the climbers use. (this area is the same area the Outlet Mall was). I'm sure some climbers would like to see this area stay a "secret".......well, so did we (4x4 users). They are in an area that has high visibility now, so if they want to continue using it, it should be recognized in the non-motorized plan.

The only issue is that it's on private land (Menke) so this might be an issue......I don't know. But mapping it would be something I'd gladly volunteer for.

I'm also partially interested in the technical mountain biking trails......the hikers and horseback riders can fend for themselves.

It's no secret. That area has been advartised in several national level magazines and books as well as mapped in great detail. Also most of the climbing routs are up the hill higher from where we had our trails.

Yes that would be

but I think it would require DNR to buy the land. In the mean time the climbers can just keep doing it like they always have.

Very thought provoking, as always.

My proposition of including Rock climbing should be taken ONLY as a way to include another user group at Reiter. I have no interest in "fighting" for it. And I have no interest in gather fellow rock climbers to fight for it. (I climb, to climb.....that's it:

I just though I'd throw out a not-so-much-talked-about recreation; that is currently being enjoyed at Reiter.

Honestly, I think they should just lay low and continue as they were. Unfortunately, there are known issues with their access, trails, parking, etc. that may prevent them from future use. Like I said.....not my problem.

P.S. How are the single track trails going?:corn: you and Steve sure know how to build them.:haha: (sorry for the low blow, but you're douche bag, so......:flipoff

Really....Have you seen the Non-Motorized plan with the blobs?

The plan is DONE and as far as including areas not in the plan....we were told NO! Again, good luck getting private property added. It will be great to start the SEPA all over from the beginning. :awesomework:

Cool I didn't know this was also part of the new reiter plan. I got a new bike and found out that it's just like 4 wheeling- hikers hate everyone.

Now that my summer work schedule is winding down I will be making some time to volunteer. Count me in for a mabey and I will upgrade that to yes when it gets a little closer and I know for sure. :awesomework:

I agree Mark, I have talked with several of these guys after JeepMauler brought them to my attention. I think they are a nice bunch and have a cool hobby (I would never have done it, but I still think it is cool) and I am sure there will be lots of parking issues down the road for them and the whole Reiter Foothills Community needs to include them in the over all picture for the Reiter of the future. :awesomework:

While I think this work party may be good PR with the DNR and Non-motorized folks, I've decided I'm not going to participate in this work party. After we (motorized folks) get our SEPA passed and the permits required, only then will I help out on the Non-motorized portion of Reiter.

I would also like to see these Mountain bikers, Horse riders and Hikers show themselves, in one form or another, to be interested in the New Reiter.

I'm not saying that "you" shouldn't go and help this weekend........it's just that I'm not.

Well I am back after a short walking in the woods on the west side of May Creek. Not much of a turn out for this event, so I wonder how much real interest there is fromthe Hiking Communicty, they only had one show up and I am not sure you can classify him as a hiker, even if he does do some.

There were two Reps from the Mountin Bike users, no Horse people, and two 4x4 people in addition to the four DNR People present. Also there to assist with access was a member of Goldbar Nature Trails (Who is a Quad Rider).

Waited in the main parking area a little passed 09:30 for late comers (which there were none), then moved over to the Power Lines in the Goldbar Nature Trails property to park and head out in to the area to be inspected and mapped as possible.

Here are a few photos, but not many as my hiking days are long gone, but I did follow for a ways. I think the rest are still out there as I write this. Was a nice wet day for a walk in the woods.

The last photo show where we turned off the road, but I did not know that and every one followed me up there road where I had gone to get that photo, so the first photo here is back on track and where they left me in the dust, but it was too wet for dust, and luckly no mud either. I followed for a while stoppingot take some photos of May Creek and checking on the progress of some restoration work we had accomplished. Enjoy the sights, I did..
