Wondering what to use thats going to be durable, can't powdercoat since it's in and welded. What's a good product to spray or roll on?

My favorite at the moment is plain ol' Rustoleum Oil based paint. Just mix in about 20% mineral spirits and spray on with any cheap ol' gun. It's nice cause you can pick your color and it's easy to touch up later with a roller or brush.
You can't really screw it up.:awesomework:

x2 thats what mine got painted with. these pix are before the the cage got painted. go to the hardware store and buy 1mm plastic sheeting and wrap your cab under the cage then degrease and scuff your cage. the rustoleum will do a great job.

Rustoleum Professional rattle can. (The silver can)

A little bit more expensive than the regular stuff. It coats a little better.

Plus any rattle can job is easy to touch up. :awesomework:

I paint lots of tubing each year.

I use .97cent wallmart paint. Other than the orange and red it kicks ass.

Look here to see the blue under a buck wally paint. http://www.nw-wheelers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=57407&page=12

I notice allot of folks building/selling bumpers, axles, cages etc, dont paint them. Thats up to you to do. Cmon a 400 bumper and no paint? a 2500 axle and no paint?

I paint everything. Otherwise guys take it home and it rusts before they ever paint it. It only costs me 1-3 dollars to paint a job to ensure it wont rust.

MANY MANY times I have been asked about if I paint the product at hand, I say yes with wallyworld cheapo paint. I then get a dirty look and I instantly know I am dealing with a "spray paint pro".

They then spend the next half hour trying to convince me that the baddest ass $7 a can rustolonorite whipzam paint is the **** and it is all that is going on their cage/bumper.

I just step back and watch them lay on the nasty stinky run you out of the shop goodness they bring. The **** is so caustic it will make you gag and it will float around and stick to anything

Then after they get tired of cussing at the "fish eyes" and wrinkles of it lifting old paint I get out the .97cent garbage and spray right over the mess they made.

In dissbelief they watch dollar paint stick to grease, oil, dirty tube, dirt, pitch, etc.

I laugh in the face of expensive paint. It just gonna get smeared on a tree anyways.

i first painted mine with rustoleum, then primered and -repainted with krylon.
evrythign has work through, expept the rustoleum.

Man am I pissed. This **** went up to 1.12 now. Just on three of the colors tho. Rollback my ass, thats a rollup.

Oh well, admire the cheap luster. :bling:

doesnt matter what kind of paint you use, it will get scraped off after the first few trees. if you wheel enough the spots that get polished off wont rust, they will just stay nice and shiny:redneck: my 2 cents

I have noticed this also.

The trees must have some kind of oil in their sap. Anywhere ya smack trees with a Bpillar it wont rust.

Thats funny. The webwheelers need the best paint around cuz they never see them ol trees.

I use wally world primer and whatever color/type strikes my fancy. Usually wally world cheap paint or rustoleum hammered paint. It all gets scrapped off eventually but the hammered stuff holds up pretty well on anything but rocks.

last one I did paint remover because I switched colors then primmed with etching primer from a body shop store...spendy but works real good....I have also mixed automotive reducer to rustoleom paint so it dries fast
