Last time we were up at Evans Creek we drove our rigs through the "poles" to restrict rig width.
Does anyone know what the measurement is between them?

i only ask because I'd like to be able to just take my f-250 up there and not my toyota (76" and only two seats) to go x-mas tree hunting with my family (3+me) and the Ford is exactly 80" wide.

I dont know if I would risk it with my ford it would be my luck to get a little crossed up and get pole rash on my truck. You can still drive up the logging road out of the staging area.

That would definately be messed up. Tell the ol' lady your going wheelin', and come home later that night with "pole rash".

Hav'nt been there since they installed the poles but didnt they put them just outside of the dayuse area where the road turns to trail ? as well as just past the campground entrance.

I think I remember there being 3 different sets of poles but I cant say forsure.

The IS a set of poles at where the road turns to a trail before the camp ground. Right is the campground, left is towards the 520, and straight ahead are posts.

We have never ran into area closure up at evans this time of year when we go tree-hunting, and im pretty sure they wouldnt sell the tree cutting permit for that area if it were closed as well. unless they have changed it this year...

I cant find a map of tree harvesting area on the Forset service website. but they do say you get a map of "legal" areas to cut when you buy your permit.

But we stay on the logging roads and usually head up past the campground up 7930 and go to the junction of 7930 and 510 to have lunch and what not. i know there is the poles at the day use parking lot heading towards the rock pit on 7920. But i dont remember if there were a set of poles after the campground on 7930....

We have 2 toyotas but unfortunetly cant fit Me, brother, mom, dad, girlfriend, and 2 dogs into the toyotas.... unless we drag one of them behind on a rope.... :redneck:

Here is a map of roughly where the poles are installed. Along with the poles, there are the new rocks put in at the beginning of 311. I didn't measure them, but they are somewhere in the range of 80". I would not try to take a full body rig through the poles that is right at 80" because the poles are not straight up and down and the ground is uneven enough to make the body contact the poles when you go through them.

Its Dec. 15th

It "could" be closed earlier if the FS deems it necessary due to "conditions"

So whose gonna get drug:redneck:

We'd probably use the good ole short straw method haha :haha:

Well we're going to give it a shot to try and get to our tree cutting spot on Sunday. worst case we'll go where the "cutting area map" tells us where else we can go.

a bad day of wheeling is better than the best day at work right!?!?
Its more of an excuse to spend time with family and let the dogs run anyway. I'll post up our "adventure" report when we get back!!! :D

If the width restrictions are to keep the trails narrow, why are there width poles on the 7930 road? That road was build so logging trucks could haul out old growth trees that the USFS sold.

Because (as you already know) that "road" was converted to trail per the TMP.
