You can buy one on ebay, or speedway.com for about $60

Make sure to get the "IDEAL" one made in the USA. The chineese ones melt the plastic, & won't last long. It comes with 3 packs of blades, & you can choose depth, 3 different wide cuts, & reverse the blades for siping.

I invested my $50 a few years back, because I got tired of trying to borrow peoples. Works great for a hot knife!
I preheat the rubber with a propane heater, or torch. As I rotate the tire, it cuts like butter. But even with preheat, you're looking at least an hour per tire though.
Once you have the tool, you can do all you want.

A few years ago, Sean (wheelingjp) gave me one of the Ideal ones from Speedway... It had already did the melting handle thing that I had to get creative with to fix... So it's not just the Chinese ones that have that problem... Just an fyi...

Edit::: I will tell you this, Crazy Daze sold me some blades a few years ago that kicked the **** out of the blades from Speedway... 10x better... Really sharp and stayed sharp way longer...

I seen somewhere where guys were making their own blades out of something stainless? Cant recal where i saw it at though.
I have an ideal one with the curve around handle.
I warm the tire by the fireplace in the garage.worth the 70? $ i spent.

Our club has an Ideal (USA model) that was bought by a member years ago, and it does do the job nicely for the money---Key is prepping the tire (warming it a bit)... I've done a set of tires in 30's temps, and it does take more time...:awesomework:

Well, you can't let them sit for a long time with out working.
They do provide some mediocre blades. But, as long as you avoid rocks, & let the knifes work the rubber, it's great.
I've cut up at least 3 sets of 38's, & still have plenty of the original blades that came with my order. I think I used up 2 blades on a set of 39.5 IROKS.
I also picked up an extra head, for a wider cut.
Preheating makes all the difference in the world.
I've seen guys shave off complete lugs before, by heating up a chisle until it glows, & heat the rubber. Cut the whole lug out completely.
Anyway, I recommend you get your own set up if you do a lot of wheeling. $100 sets you up for quite a while.

picked up my cheesy ideal groover and number 5 blades from speedway 2years ago for 70 dollars and ive done three sets of tires with the blades provided and still have plenty of blades leftover. Its a good investment and doesnt cost much. Just buy your own and start cuttin **** up
