I know what your saying Mike, process of wheeling evolution. Just having the skills to build a solid tube rig is awesome as people like me have to buy. I have no dough your rig will be reliable well put together/thought out machine when done.

I got the new tubes bent up and those bends next to the bend are the toughest ones to do. So I went 2.5 and I got them spliced back onto the chassis. The clearance is much better now.

So with the front now in its happy place I got a start on the front shock hoops..

Oh and I am thinking of starting a new fad. We already have the penis bar--how about the big man bulge--long big front ends :redneck:

So I had my real first setback. After I got the front shock mounts ready to burn in I for some reason started looking at it closely and without having my new ORI stuts yet I just kinda guessed on the width and frame clearance.

Well it was just too damn tight and I really feared they would hit the frame so I removed what I had just done and tossed it. To achieve the right clearance I would need to outboard the lower mount which meant mounting them on top of the C--which meant the top of the shock mount would need to be higher and at the same time outboard the upper portion of the shock mount.

Well I have been suffering a damn head cold which really made it hard to concentrate on the whole works with the multiple angles.

So I pulled the motor and made a jig to help set everything where it needed to be and got to cuttin tube again.

I got the front links in and they fit perfect. Its starting to really take some shape.

So I got the motor and tranny back in and into its needed position.

This is when I found an oversight--I assumed one thing and found it was WAY off..

So in the first picture thats where the pinion sat when I set it up. I threw the starter in and ya--there is no way in hell a front driveshaft will even remotely fit. At that same time where I assumed the caster was good--nope was sitting at 12 degrees.

The second picture is where the pinion needs to be and that throws the caster at 19 degrees. Ya thats not going to work.

So out the front diff came and got it stripped and ready to pop the knuckles off..

I have 6" 1/8" blades that I cut just inside weld on the knuckle all the way around and load the knuckle with my special puller and work them off. When I had the tubes machined when I built the front diff the knuckles were a perfect fit.
