Four link ghetto style

Getting ready to four link my rear. I have a budget of exactly $0.47 to do it but I do have pleanty of free 2x2 thick walled laying around. Here is my question is it any less :afro: if I run the tubing at an angle like a diamond instead of flat? Also anyone got a good suggestion of oem style rubber bushings that might hold up?
 
It really isn't that ghetto to run square links, just not the norm. There are companies that make tube inserts for them so you don't have to booger weld a big nut on the ends. I remember a thread on pirate about running them flat vs. rotated to where the corner hits instead of flat. Can't remember if there was any advantage to one or the other.
 
Tractor Supply has link ends for the lower link of the 3 point hitch of a tractor for like 18 to 20 dollars a piece they are 1 1/8 " i will get you a pic i use them on my truggy with 1.5 by 3" rectangle heavy wall tube

Mounted diamond shape the two corners on the sides act as built in crumple zones and the could flatten out(probably wouldn't though) and bend. Mounted like a square you'd have two vertical walls on each link sharing the load my2c is square is better. :fish:
 
Some reason I'm thinking like some super duty front bushings would hold up better than the tractor supply ends. I could be wrong I useally am just ask my wife. I know of two super duties at scrap yards. Just wanting to see what the all mighty web wheelers have to say before I waste my time building it. Time is the only thing I got less then money of.
 
I did the tractor links one time. They get loose quick and rattle like hell. Poly is much better and if you got the square, run it man.
 
Thanks for the input all mighty web crawlers. I guess I've been looking at hardline to much and not enough wheelin. Run what you got screw what other people think! I've got to stop lookin at those daum high dollar buggies, it warps your mind
