Maxxis creepy crawler or bfg red label

I've been running Krawlers for 4 years now and I've cut 2 39" tires and 1 42" tire. All 3 were cut in a race situation and all driver error on my part. Not saying they won't cut but they are a damn good tire. I run 12-15 psi in mine and I've been more than happy with them.

Let me clarify. I have run all 3 tires mentioned the Reds, KRT-B's, and the Treps.

IMO the Reds are the best all around tire for rock crawling. They do extremely well in dry conditions, and do pretty dang good when it is wet as well. The only negative I have to say about them is the side wall is more vulnerable than the rest.

The KRT's which I didn't run long do have a thicker side wall than the Reds. You can basically run them flat. From what I saw they seemed to be a very good tire in go fast driving and on dry rocks. I just couldn't get past the fact that the tread pattern looked about as aggressive as an all terrain tire. People that run them seem to really like them, but it is just hard for me to believe that they would perform well in wet conditions of the East Coast.

The Treps have the most aggressive pattern out of all 3 including the sidewalls. I have to say the first time I had them out I was a little skeptical. They felt very hard and did not seem to grab the rocks as well as the previous Red's I had been running. I was also in a new rig and the whole right hand side drive situation had not sank in yet. The next trip out the trails were very wet and the tires seemed to dig very well in the wet mud. I did run a little less air in them from the previous trip out which really seemed to help.

In closing the Red Label is a very good tire that I would not hesitate to run in the future, however the Trep seems to have a thicker sidewall that may prevent it from being cut as easy. Hopefully my hypothesis is correct, we shall only tell in the near future.

I got my ass handed to me in a muddy rainy race at DPG by Adam Carter and he was running those tires.
 
I run the 40" Maxxis creepy's on the beamer and have been very pleased once I finally broke the side walls down. It took a lot of running around without any air in them to do it though. Now the bite is so good that I find it more fun to try to make them work rather than using the horse power. [size=10pt][size=10pt][size=10pt][size=10pt][/size][/size][/size][/size]

Yeah the KRT has a completely different sidewall than the Red Label. The ultimate tire would be the red label with KRT sidewall.

I'm running a set of cut Creepy's. Opening up the center lugs seemed to help in the wet stuff. That being said, they are no BFG Krawler on the rocks. I think they make a pretty good choice if you only have one set of tires but I would trade em for a set of Reds if given the chance. Ultimately I'd love to have a set of Krawlers for dry days or on the rocks and a set of cut boggers for when we are blazing new trails. The KRTB's are extremely durable and a close second to the Reds on the rocks but in the wet nasty stuff they will lag behind.

I would put the KRTB up against any of those in any condition. With that being said, BFG needs to make a full-tread KRTB that would help out for east coast conditions! Any tire can be cut, but normally it is driver error...like I did this one :)

Haha. I wish it was possible. Michelin doesn't believe in Blem tires. You guys would freak out if you saw all the tires they cut up for stuff the common person would never notice.
