Dynamite Design - Sling Shot

I'll admit I have never been around people that use the term HAZ. That doesn't mean I don't know the proper ways to heat and cool material, in a way that makes it strong. The root pass is a single bead pass. The lame trophy truck explanation, was just a simple example to a question that was asked. I guess someone should tell Nazir not to endo his race car this weekend at KOH. Reckon he didn't endo it hard enough last time.

Someone goes out side the box and everyone is quick to throw them under the bus.

why all the haters?

No hate here. He does great welds but I defiantly had a few questions about what his thoughts are.

Ok we get it.... You can walk the cup with a tig welder. Why are you not cleaning the tubes to be welded? There is so much **** in there that you can see it in your pics. Also what's the thought process of making the weld so big around some of the tubes? Its like 1" on my computer screen. You obviously have a decent skill set, just wondering why you wouldn't take the extra steps to make it right. Your argument for them welds being on a trophy truck is pretty lame, can you give some examples of something that has that much weld? Here is probably the best documented build and you don't see anything that looks like your stacking mig welds, http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php/31417-Something-New!! I was always taught that a weld needs to be no larger than the thinnest material. Looks like a bad use of time, materials and consumables all of which I would guess the customer would be paying for.

The tubes are super clean. The **** you are talking about is a drawback from not welding for 2 years. Seems like you know all the right ways to do things.... I'd love to see you do better.

I feel no need to justify my work, and get in a interweb **** swinging contest. I guess by "clean" I mean more than just getting the grease and oil off the tube. If you were to quickly clean the tube with a flap disc, expansion wheel, scotchbrite pad etc. A lot of that dirt will not be present thus not coming to the top and contaminating your weld. Like I said you do a good job, but a few simple steps can make a good weld be a great weld in know time. Sorry if you took offence, I will go back to pointing out Christmas ornaments..

So now I understand your talking about the outside surface of the tubing. If I had to explain my thought process on it, I would say that I don't want to see any type of sanding marks on the material. If I had to chose from what someone was picking apart, I definatly wouldn't want them to say, man, all those places you sanded and grinded on this cage make it look like you messed up a lot. The raw fabrication is what I want this jeep to show.

Not wanting sanding/grind marks is understandable but I think what sledneck is gettin at is that a few simple although sometimes tedious steps make a huge difference in weld appearance and quality. You got skills for sure tho

If you come off with a " I am the greatest" attitude expect focus to be drawn to you. I appreciate your work but your arrogance is annoying. thats my .02 carry on

I've got flaws. I won't argue with that, but if you want to be the greatest? You better damn well think you are.

Agreed, but you will draw more flies with honey. When you on the front line you will be shot at, that why I stay in the shadows :spin:

lol nice, the goal is to create a thriving business from basically nothing, so I can quit my job and do fabrication work. If I have to show my ass, and make a scene then that is what I will do. If I knew a better way to make it happen quicker, I'm sure I'd try it.

I think to make your business thrive faster spend little less time on this this page and Finnish your project and let work speak for its self rather than all the bragging :dblthumb:

No lie I'm in the shop as much as possible, but am I bragging or telling the truth?

I might be on the front line, but you can't afraid to get shot at when your at war.... thumb.gif

David, I have been following your threads. We have met a few times, and For what its worth, here is a word of advice from experience. Don't think your business will explode over night. I think if you talked to anyone who has a successful business, most will attest to years of determination and hard times before they felt like they were successful.(Humbly, I am still in this phase) Even with your welding skill, If you think one project will set your business on fire over night you are setting up for a disappointment. (Been there) My advice is to stick to the fab and let it speak for itself. Do that for a couple years and if the consumer likes your product, business will come.

Thanks Pj

I came in late but I think this statement and the fact you want to clear coat it raw explains everything to me. Very out of the box and show of craftsman ship. I think in a lot of areas this will look badass, but time will tell when you connect or end all the open ended bars. Don't let the interweb change what you started man. There isn't a single thing out there that won't get nit picked by a web fabricator LoL

I think it's neat and different, and will go back to watching for the finished product now

Wise advise.

Bling welds, check. The other 95 percent of what customers are looking for, to be determined. Hope to follow some good fab in this build and see a killer product. Keep the pics coming.

I have this philosophy as well!
But, I am open to criticism, as I know you are... be you!
