jd2 m32 hydraulic conversion

Hello to all. Im fairly new to this site but have been lurking in the shadows for some time and really enjoy the skills and knowledge of the people here. Im looking to do an electric hydraulic conversion on my jd2 m32 tube bender and would like some knowledgeable people more experienced with this to help me decide which route to go and answer a few of my questions. Thanks in advance.
Any way to get right to the point im looking at two routes to go- Items from surplus center.com

route 1: buy 2 HP 115/230 VAC 1.3 GPM 2500 PSI DA POWER PACK with 3 position 4 way solenoid included and a 2.5 gal steel reservoir part #9-7138 price= $637 motor rpm= 3450
Then all I would need is a 2 button remote and some hoses.

and I would still need some hoses and possibly a inline filter.

So my questions are
1: Which motor is better for a tube bender, one with 3450rpm or one with 1800rpm. ( I've read the 1800rpm will have more shaft torque. is this true and does it matter for a bender?)
2: for the Dual acting solenoid valve should it be a closed center one (all ports blocked in neutral) item#9-7237 or a open center one (work ports blocked in neutral) item#9-7235 or open center (all ports open to tank in neutral) item#9-7236
3: am I missing any parts on my 2nd route to make this work and do I have the right parts.
4: does the hydraulic pump look to be adequate? not to slow but not so fast I cant make accurate identical bends?

Im wanting to be able to bend 1.75 - 2" x .25 wall just to be overkill

Okay so almost fifty views and no response. So I will simplify the question.
Which electric motor is better for a tube bender ,one that runs at 1800rpm or 3450rpm?
Which solenoid do I need , closed centre or open centre. If open centre there's two so which one? Work ports blocked in neutral or all ports open to tank in neutral?

Maybe some pics will help show why I need this info...

Hopefully someone will have a answer because I'm trying to do the same thing.

Air over hydraulic is a lot simpler and cheaper way to go

I run the elec over HYd that JD2 sales on my model 32 and it's fast and will bend heavier wall tubing no problem.I don't lie air over HYd cause they are slow .you could look at the specs on the one they sale

Ya I def aint going air over hydraulic as I don't own my own compressor...yet. and rokcrler thanks , I have seen that writeup already and I do have a parts list from cebbys hydraulic conversion (he uses same stuff as on the mindspring.com writeup) so I know many people have used 1hp electric motor that does spin at 3450rpm like this one from northerntool.com http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200329732_200329732 item #105871 and were even able to bend 1.5'' x .25 wall one review said. but I cant find anyone with more info on the max size they can bend. I want someone to say my 1hp electric hydraulic is plenty for bending 2'' x .25 or .375 wall or no I wish I went wish something bigger like a 2hp motor and something with a little bigger pump (more gpm)
I want to use a 2hp motor just because im like tim taylor....MORE POWER! and I don't want to be like "I wish I went a little bigger" down the road.
But seriously I just want to know the pros or cons of 3450rmp vs 1800rpm for a bender or does it even matter. Like the 1800rpm will spin almost half as much as the 3450rpm, so will the bearings last longer? Will a 1800rpm be quieter? will the 1800rpm have more shaft torque?
Or is this a pointless thread and I should just get the one that's simpler and cheaper to setup and not worry about motor rpm?

I like to build stuff right the first time without worrying that's its gonna die within a year or two and take funding away from my toys/projects.

ps my only quarrel with the jd2 electric hydraulic is price and not being able to bend a 90 degree bend in one stroke of their tiny ram. and I already bought a 3X24'' ram like cebby/mindspring both use in their hydraulic conversions.

well I did get a little info off a guy in my same province but it wasn't enough or too specific. I thought with all the tube being bent on this site someone would be able to chime in. anyway he said " go with a 1.5 or 2 hp with a slow rpm speed. the slower the speed just makes it easier to control. I forget what my pump is but yes it can bend .250 wall tubing with no issues but it does not like 3/8" wall"
that being said I still don't know what size tubing he was bending with .250 wall. I will post a pic of his bender as it kinda what im looking to build.

Cebbys was the one I was looking for but his parts list is not hosted anymore. Jay's setup will bend .25"

I don't recall the size of my motor but bending 1.75x.25 it doesn't get past 1500psi. Size your pump to the cylinder and the 1800 motor will be fine...or just over build. Either way I'm looking forward to see what you come up with!

Thanks rokcrler . I will post a nice write up when I start to do my hydraulic conversion. Here's two pics of the local guys and two pics of another one I like. Mine will be somewhere in between.

Those are the ones we modeled ours off of. Unfortunately, it still isn't done but we've been bending the **** outta some tube with it!

I def. notice more people are using a high 3450rpm motor. Bradzuki would u mind telling me how many rpm your motor is on your tube bender?

Nobody has commented on which solenoid to go with for using a two button remote. open center or closed center??????? I will try to google it...again....

Ours is a 2hp motor off of a dust collector. Adam's dad upgraded to a 3hp and there was nothing wrong with the 2hp so we used it. It is also a 3450rpm motor. His dad has remote controls for all of his woodworking equipment (box hanging on the wall that you plug into) so we use one of the remotes for on/off.

Our POS gets the job done. I think I may work on it some this week.
