Safety first! What head gear do you run?

This.

I would like to try one of the Axel when I'm not racing, but for now this is my choice.

Hey guys! This is Marvin with AXEL OFF ROAD.

This is the first time I read that our lightweight helmets are uncomfortable.

Most peoples problem is that they didn't measure their head properly, get a too small helmet and then wonder why it is uncomfortable.

Attention: This is why we offer a 2 layer padding! The thinner black top padding can be partially removed for a perfect individual fit!!

I'm sorry to hear that some of you are unsatisfied with our product !!! AXEL OFF ROAD Is a very young company (just turned a year old)
and we're depending on straight, honest feedback to improve our products.

Just maybe next time you send me (Marvin) a message or talk to me at an event instead of posting it up in a forum.

If Axel Off Road helmets would really be that uncomfortable you wouldn't see as many out on the trails ;-)

We're working on our new collection as we speak and a new helmet is also going to be part of it. Stay tuned!

Thank you all for your kind support! We take your comments seriously and will continue to keep our sport safe and awesome!!

Basically you are implying if someone's helmet doesn't fit them right it is because they screwed up and ordered the wrong size or are crazy cause "every one else on the trail has one and they aren't bitching"?

How come you didn't join til today? You could have been giving the fine folks here a HL discount, but you didn't, you only came around to do damage control....

with that being said I hope y'all do great, and I wouldn't worry about a few online opinions... if your products are good and your customer service is great you will be around as long as yall want to be in business. I would however love to have a helmet that fit my big ol' melon head. There are alot of large guys on this site and I know I'm not the only that feels like "fat guy in a little coat" when they try on some helments

Everyone's head is shaped different. You just have to go try them on. I had tried probably 20 of them and when I finally tried the one I bought and I knew the instant I pulled it on that it was the one. Love my helmet, we were meant to be together. :)

Most every full face helmet line has low end and high end helmets that are a world of difference in terms of comfort. For the money, HJC makes some quality comfortable helmets. I had a couple of them in my sportbike days. KBC = probably shittiest helmet I ever wasted money on (ordered online before trying on). Then I switched to Icon helmets and had several different ones. Still have the one I wrecked in...90 mph + guardrail and it only broke one of the vent things off and ripped the shield off with a bunch of rash of course. But did not crack or comprimise safety. Also have a good Icon helmet in the closet that I used with my last bike and will use when I'm able to afford another one.

My Icon Lucky Lid helmet that I currently have. If I had a bouncer, no doubt about it I'd wear a full face helmet. I don't like **** hittin me in the face or affecting my vision while I'm trying to concentrate on driving.

Got me one of these full face with an integrated sunglasses that fold up out of the way for 119 bucks with free shipping. Haven't use it for general trail riding but seams to be fairly cool. But I'm not much on rocks to the face I'm ugly enough already lol

I plan on running something like this once my rig is finished. Looks badass. thumb.gif

Not doing anything nutty in my Jeep, but I wear a Bern Macon helmet. I have a big ass head so finding a helmet that actually fit was tough. I think I got a XXL and it fits great.

This is the first time I read that our lightweight helmets are uncomfortable.

The padding Axel Off Road uses is the most comfortable padding you can have if you want it to be light weight and washable.

Yes, Axel could switch to an even more comfortable fabric padding but this is an off road helmet.
It get's dirty, wet and greasy - you want to be able to wash it off fast and easy.
Plus you're going to sweat in the summer, the last thing you want to wear is a hot and sweaty fabric padding helmet.

Another point is the price. $69 is really not expensive... Plus we always return/exchange helmets if they don't fit.

Thanks for chiming in. I agree with Muddinmetal, to claim it's the owners fault as to why something is uncomfortable is dangerous. As well as to be upset that this was brought onto a public forum. That's going to happen.

But I think you need to look at it as an opportunity. If I were you I'd ask people to explain why it was uncomfortable. Maybe it is owner mis-measuring. Maybe it's a chance to get some good real world feedback on how to improve. Free R&D is hard to come by.

And see your comment in red? That's a poor way to think of it if you own a business. Don't think of it as "look at how many I've sold", I'd look at it as "why haven't we sold more?".

Good luck with the business, it would be awesome to have a really good company that is catered to the off-roading community and safety.

I've been looking at helmets lately. Been looking at the Axel helmets a lot for cost and you see a lot of the big names wearing them. Be awesome if we could try them on first that's the shitty thing about buying online.
