Finally pulled the trigger on my buggy build. Picked up a Chevy vortec 5.3l last night. Shopping for a tranny/t-case combo now. Since the engine is going to be mid/rear, I am leaning towards doing a 2wd tranny with a divorced t-case. Anyone have experience with doing this or any advice? Or would It just be easier to do a traditional 4wd tranny and t-case and offset the motor. Anyway here are some pics! Wire harness pulled and ready to be stripped.

Re: Rear Engine buggy (Hollow Point)

Decided to go divorced, mainly for keeping options open cause of mid engine. Getting some work done on the harness tonight. Following the write up off of http://www.lt1swap.com. Going to ship out the computer to him as well to be flashed. Picking up a th400/205 combo within the next few weeks too. Then its time to order the DOM. :D

Re: Rear Engine buggy (Hollow Point)

Plans have changed and engine is being moved to the front (mainly for simplicity sake), and was playing around with some designs in paint. Dom will be ordered in a week so tell me what you think!

MO PARTS loller.gif TH400 and NP205 out of a military truck. Barely fit in the back of the wrangler. Attempted to clean them with some simple green and the pressure washer but that wasn't really working. Waiting on my financial situation to level out, then its chassis time.

Started with simple green which was working but not good enough. Switched to Easy off oven cleaner and it worked great. Just be careful with it around wires and paint. The picture above is simple green, below is after oven cleaner.
