TSL GROOVING TO DO OR NOT TO DO ????

Re: Re: TSL GROOVING TO DO OR NOT TO DO ????

I really enjoyed how the rears worked at GMP this past Saturday.

Normally. ..it takes a lot for me to notice things but the rear tire cut coupled with a 1.25" 14bolt shave was very apparent!

On another note....I also noticed a loss in lateral traction coming down wet/rutted hills. Was manageable. ...but noticeable.

I love mine groved every other middle lug world of a differeance but agree may not last real long

Grooved mine with an osalating saw
sharpened blade worked great but dont ask how I learned about tire vulcanizing
Aetna cut mine still building the chassis so not sure yet

I know this is an old thread but it is the most relevant thread I can find on here so I am bringing it back up.

Anyway, I have 42 Iroks and they suck IMO. Mine are roughly 90% tread and no matter what pressure I run, I can't seem to make the same hills (as easy) as my old 39.5" cut TSL's. Terrain I run most often has very little rock, alot of hill climbs, and unfortunately, mud holes at the bottom of those hills. I haven't been to Tennessee with these tires yet, so maybe there they will be good. However, since I get down there about 6-8 times a year, I need a tire that works locally.

Has anyone on here grooved them and had positive results?

junedog on here has. Also, squaring up the chevrons to make them more like TSLs works great too

Yea I squared mine up like mentioned above. Opened them up a lot they grab the mud a lot better. They are pictures in my avatar

Thanks for the pics. I will let you all know what I do. I probably am going to cut them.

Unless someone wants some 42 Iroks on a 15" Allied Beadlock so I can buy some TSL's or maybe even some of them cheater tars :****:

what is the difference between Tennessee and Aetna cutting
Cutting the center tread offset blocks vs straight across.

Then there is the more extreme cut where you literally remove half the inner and outer tread, making "tread paddles". I've heard that called " buggy cut" or "Aetna buggy cut"
