RC crawler question

For scale or for competition crawling? There really aren't any RTR competition crawlers anymore. As far as scale goes...it depends on what size you're looking for...most are 1/10 scale, but there are 1.9 and 2.2 size classes...which refers to the sizes of the wheels in inches. The "most scale" designation would go with the 1.9 size class, but if you're looking to beat on a rig that will go just about anywhere and will also handle some speed as well then the best bet is probably the 2.2 class. Here are the options as far as RTR go for each:

1.9 -
Axial SCX10
Axial SCX10 Dingo
Axial SCX10 Wrangler
Axial SCX10 Wrangler C/R Edition
Axial SCX10 w/ Deadbolt Body
Axial SCX10 Falken Edition
RC4WD Trailfinder2 RTR

2.2 -
Axial Wraith
Axial Wraith Poison Spyder
Axial AX10 Deadbolt
Axial AX10 Ridgecrest

As for which one to go with just take a look at all of them and see which one you like the looks of. Most of the Axial rigs in each size class share just about all the same parts so getting spares is really easy usually. All of the 2.2's share the same axles, but the chassis' are different between some of them.

I had a wraith and really enjoyed it...and spent entirely too much money on it. I've also had an SCX10 based rig and just lost interest in it. I prefer the competition crawler scene so that's where I've concentrated my collection. If you decide to get a rig be sure and let me know...I may be able to help you on the price.

DO NOT BUY NEW.. Unless u have plenty of money. Just like this hobby. Buy new and then spend 500 on upgrades, or spend about five or 600 on a used one that has already been upgraded. I have done both. More than once. Ill never buy a new one again. I have a TON of money in tha ones i have. Actually just finished building my 3rd Chassis. Unless u want a MOA like I assume clempson is talkon about he likes (i love the comp crawlers also) i would say a nice used upgraded wraith. Cant beat em for trails and such. Watch em on youtube. That will give u an idea. Dam addicting. Im warning ya!! :dblthumb:

Thanks what about a axial wrath kit rtr only ran once ebay 375? New praline Braddock and rc4ed swappers axial 20t motor x15ess Savox 0251 dx2e controller sr201 receiver? if any of that makes sense. so what is it worth?

Not that much. I would seriously consider joining RCCrawler.com if you haven't already. If you haven't then you'll need to spend $20 to be able to view the classisfieds right away...otherwise you have to be a member for 30 days with 30 posts I believe. I've picked up plenty of deals there over the years. Typically with a used unit you'll want to stay away from the Axial or Traxxas brand electronics and stick to rigs that have been upgraded to aftermarket motors, speed controllers, and servos. The Axial speed controllers are made by Castle, but they aren't rated the same as the normal Castle products.

You can pick up a Spektrum DX3E for really cheap since they've started being sold with other RTR kits now. I've seen them from $20-$50 depending on condition and such if you can't find a rig with a controller.

I have a axial wraith posion spyder and love it for the money I bought mine off eBay but it was new. But I have about as much in good battery's and a dual battery charger. But if your just wanting to play with and not compete then you can just Upgrade as stuff as it breaks. Yes I would have rather bought one that was all dressed out and bad ass but when money permits I just buy stuff or when it breaks it's not that bad, and you can build it how you like :dblthumb: it's a expensive hobby though so be ready

Heres a perfect example of the addiction part. These have anywhere from 500-1000+ in them. All custom. Most started stock. Now building to Chassis and ****. Hhaha im tellin ya its INSANE how fast the money can add up. Couple sets of the VP wraith axles i have were around 600 buks new. Hell look at Vanquish products website. Some of the wheels are 225 or so !!! F'n nuts. Been wanting to sell them for parts for my rig but im a hoarder bad. Cant let em go

If I were about to jump into the hobby I would probably wait until the first part of September. Reason I say this is that the Axial Yeti is about to be released and should be hitting stores by the first part of September...and that means that a lot of people will decide to unload their current rigs so they can justify buying a new one. Trust me...I'm gonna have my eyes on the classifieds for deals to pop up. You could make a living off of buying complete rigs and selling the parts...seriously.

well bought me a Axial Wraith on last Friday by Saturday morning second battery burn it up.junk time for upgrades ordered battery forward bracketnew 35 t off rock crawler motor. contacted axial service and it sucks too.
