Re: RZR Build for the Baja 1000

Any particular reason you went w/ a reclining seat in a race rig? Seems a suspension, or race seat would be a better choice. I'm not too fond of the Corbeau reclining seats either after seeing a buddy destroy both of his Baja RS seats while wheeling in his Jeep. The reclining mechanism literally snapped and flopped him into the fully reclined position while he was hammering on Little Jager.

The original reason was comfort and then adjustment needed for different driver sizes. Corbeau failed to mention "failure", nor have I read that. But, Im glad you brought this up. Ill def now look more into it. Thanks for the input

Re: RZR Build for the Baja 1000

If there is a harness bar directly behind the seat would it matter of the reclining system had failed? I'm not sure if it's just me but any full chassis I have built there has always been a harness bar directly behind the seat. Not stepping on toes and not saying I'm a know it all

Yes we will have a bar. I don't think we will have any issue. But, we posted it up on here to get opinions, so we will take em.

Re: RZR Build for the Baja 1000

You are correct, but again if you have that bar, what's the point of a reclining seat?

Like I said the original thought was to be able to adjust position for different drivers. It does not seem as practical now as when we made the purchase. I suppose you could blame it on
having a credit card on hand and getting a little too excited......Rookie Mistake. You may see some seats on here for a real good deal in the not too distance future....haha

Re: RZR Build for the Baja 1000

i was waiting to see if anyone else would say something about the reclining seats. I had two strip on me. one was going up tub rock at grayrock orv had a buddy in the passenger seat who was kinda hefty. next thing I know he disappeared and was leaned all the way back. had to weld it up on the trail to keep riding.

Re: RZR Build for the Baja 1000

Yep, same thing we saw. Dude's wife disappeared all the sudden. lol

BTW, I'm completely jealous of what you are building and doing. I don't think my neurosurgeon would approve, but I would love to have a chance to race something like this one day.

Re: RZR Build for the Baja 1000

I never noticed this build. Sweet!!

Some good friends of mine raced a hooters sponsored buggy in baja a few times. They still race locally but I hear about how awesome baja was still to this day. They say it's freakin stupid cool. Wish I could have made it.

Good lookin build. Enjoy it

SWEET!

Everywhere you can save weight you should.
Do your seat mounts really need to be on 1.75" .188wall? Nope.
Does that floor structure need to be the same? Nope.

Well its a bucket list item for us. I have a friend who races Ultra 4 and he turned us onto the rzr. He said its sometimes sucks pulling around an 4k lb car and then the cost to build those is "really" expensive . He said if its a bucket list and you dont want to spend every last time, then build a rzr. So...thats what we are doing. The hooters sponsor thing is awesome. Hoping to get some help down the line. We have some players interested in helping with $$

Could not agree more.

We built it all out of 4130. We are going to look at all the parts and weights of each as we move forward.
