5.3 steam port?????

What do I need to do to the steam ports on a 5.3?

I drill and tap the water pump and run them back thru...I think it gives air a way out. Keeps from getting hot spots. Some say plug them but I would rather be safe than sorry

I ran my last one plugged and had no issues. I bled the system with it open, then plugged it. No issues.

My new radiator has a provision for it. LS specific radiators should have it.

Did mine similar to this. without the expensive fittings, just a hose and clamps and the jegs coupler and a nipple fitting. Spliced into the top hose.

Gm crate motors have a fitting tapped into the top of the water pump. I would think they would know where it goes.

I have seen that piece that the an fitting is welded to come out of pump.

I bought one of these from www.jagsthatrun.com

I used it on my upper radiator hose and tied the steam port into the brass barb.

I ran my plugged for over a year and it bit me during a race. I was 180 degrees then 240 in an instant. I would hook it up.

This won't actually work for me I don't think, due to the intake being lower on the LS1s down under, i guess this is more aimed at truck engines?
