Creepy Crawler Stickies???

I looked through some old posts but wasn't seeing what I wanted so I have to start a new one.

Anyway, found a DEAL on (3) used Sticky Creepy Crawlers in the 40" flavor. Before I waste money for no reason (because I will also have to buy a 4th tire and 4 rims) what are your thoughts on these?

Should I just keep saving for Red or Treps or should I grab these and go for a while?

I run 42" Iroks now.

Pretty much our whole group runs stickies… couple of us are into reds, one guy runs treps and one guy runs creepies… they all stack up about the same at the end of the day but the Maxxis tires do a little better in the muddy stuff but not quite as well in rocks, wet or dry.. If i was gonna drop some coin i'd get treps but reds are way more available.. I run what i can get a deal on!

I'm no pro, by anymeans, but I those tires would be great if we had all rock like out west .. But with the 5 1/2 rocks that we can actually drive own each year I think reds or Treps would be much better. Reds seem to be always available used.. For decent price. Treps, not so much

I love the way the treps look. But aren't they as much as a 43 sx sticky?

Here are my thoughts. I agree above on the post above about treps and reds. I havent seen creepy in person at all.

I just picked up Maxxis as a sponsor for next year, but I can get reds at a reduce priced as well since I race. It is almost never dry in the east when wheeling, but a trep will clean like no other. I think a trep is one of the best tires for the east, but to be honest I would run whatever I could get a deal on.

Treps work great in the loose muddy stuff especially when they're new and the lugs are still squared. I've never wheeled with anyone with creepy's. I'm sue they'd work alright but probably not as good as a trep in the mud. Red's are great at crawling rocks but I know of several people who complain about their lack of traction in the mud and loose stuff. I'd say don't settle, save up and buy the tire you want.

Bob had Creepies on the Beamer buggy and they done well, of course it was a well built buggy too with a little woopow. But that thing always done well on those tires. With that being said, I'm on the Red bandwagon forever :dblthumb:

I'd post some vids but my work computer's browser is outdated and I can't manually updated, so Youtube doesn't function properly. But you can get on Youtube and search "Bob Beamer Buggy" and some of the vids will come up.

Thanks guys for all the replies.

Would the fact that this guys wants $150 for all 3 tires change anyone's opinion on the deal? It's $60.00 for shipping from him to me.

I think I will end up holding off because I saw TALLNATE's treps at Harlan and really liked them. I am leaning more toward treps than reds simply for the fact that I don't live where most of you do. I get to Tennessee and Kentucky as much as I can but the facts are that my local wheeling spot is mostly dirt/mud with very few rocks therefore I think I need the treps for that. I'd say 43 TSLS but the 6cyl, stockish axles, nor my wallet would like that.

If they are in fact stickies you'd be crazy not to buy them. If you really want Treps buy these and have 3 spares for when you find Treps. Be hard to find any thing in the same size as spares much less a sticky tire.

They are the sticky version. I questioned the 150 too and he wants them gone that's why the price. He just got deal on treps or he'd be still using them. They are worn but not shot IMO. Will see if I can post his text pictures on here. Guy seemed pretty decent but we know how that goes.

I agree.

I ran sticky Creepies in the 40" flavor, and they really only did better than a SX where I wheel (Hot Springs) on a dry slab. They don't have enough void or bite for the looser stuff. My vote is reds due to price and availability, but Treps seem to work well if you can find them for a decent price.

If they're true stickies at a price of $150.. buy those tires! Keep 1 for a spare and I'm sure you can re-sell the other 2 for at least $150 and possibly even more. I do know that 40" Creepy's come in a sticky and non-sticky version where as all 40" treps are competition stickies. Maxxis non-stickies are actually a very soft tread, I think I remember reading their non-stick rubber scored a 62 on the durometer where as Maxxis comp rubber has a 49 durometer rating. Red's have a 61 durometer rating for comparison and we all know how well they work.
