How many days did you wheel Clayton? I've been wanting to get down there for over six yrs now. In the early stages of planning a trip in the spring now. Thanks for sharing. Hate to see that broken knuckle! How long did it take to fix that in such a convenient location?

We spent two days there and I wish we had longer. Clayton was beautiful and full of big rock. If you go and are not camping
stay at the Clayton County Inn. There's not much in Clayton but this is a nice place with plenty of room for trailers and they have an awesome restaurant!

The broken knuckle was unfortunate. ..we were on green mamba extension. With a little creativity with a winch and bottle Jacks replacing it wasn't too bad. We didn't have a spare but got lucky and found one at "slims garage" located right outside the park entrance...saved our ass for sure. Once we got the knuckle we were back in buisness pretty quick.

Ole Slim is one hell of a guy if he doesn't have what you need he can figure out a way to make something work!!! Fantastic wheeling in Clayton for sure thumb.gif thumb.gif

I watched slim weld then fab plates and weld them on the replacement knuckle my buddy needed. HOLY FAWKIN CRAP was it cool to watch someone do that kind of work as quickly as he did!! What an education!!
I swear that rebuit knuckle is prolly 2x as strong as the OEM!! :****:
The characters coming in and out of his shop were also fun to watch and chat with...good times, good times!!

I am glad we ran into you guys. It was awesome running into a small group in my neck of the woods from as far away as y'all came. I wish we would have had our **** together and were able to run the second day with y'all. We had to tend to one of our rigs before hitting the trails which slowed us up. It was cool to have the entire park to ourselves. There is a good three full days of wheeling i Clayton if you don't have the type of failure like a knuckle twisting off.

Ray, I'll hit you up one of these days so I can get a taste of some east coast wheeling.

Ill try to post up the pics I have later.

Sam

Oh, and if you would of showed me all the poser pics of ya'all in Disney, we may have left y'all on your own at Clayton. :flipoff1:

Yup poser pics all around!!!
Should have gotten one of you,Sam lounged out by the fire Friday night in the: "Burt Reynolds pose" :wtflol:
HAHA!

Enjoyed wheeling with y'all too! Hit me up when you go back, I'm only 2.5 from Clayton and you go right by my house on the way there!!

Sam - yall wanna wheel SE, we generally make a memorial weekend trip to AL, would love to bring another rig with me from TX!!

Yes it's a creek bed you can wheel for a few miles. Starts mild then gets crazy. Lots of side trails that go up the side of the mountains off the creek.

Is it a riverbed? Looks like a dam but I don't see any water?

The dam u see is at Disney...and yeah the wheeling area is the spillway. There's actually a good bit of water in the lower portions.

Sorry I was referring to Clayton which is a creek bed.
The Dam is at Disney and you can wheel all over the spillway.
Sorry for any confusion.
