I was searching 42 TSL SX's on toyota axles and I found this old for sale thread on pirate. Does anyone recognize it? It's rig out of north Georgia. I'm interested because I'm seriously considering 42 tsl's on my rig.

My yota buggy is setup similar with 42" Iroks (they measure 38")
It works good for the 2 times I've had it out. Stupid high groumd clearance.

However, I'm out in AZ and I'm super easy on the skinny pedal and my rig is built. My wheeling buddies don't think I'll have any issues. Well, they also say I drive like a sissy. ......unless I'm in a pursuit, then I drive like a tried and true southern boy..........crazy

I have two friends that ran 42" iroks on Toyota axles yrs ago and had no problems taking out stock ring and pinions. I had a rig with 38" sx's and it went through 3 4.10 ring gears in a short time before I parted it. Go for it, just carry a spare 3rd with you.

I am. We're going to start buying them in march for my b-day. Going to just buy one or two at a time because they cost so damn much. Besides, I need to truss both axles better before jumping from 38.5's to the 42's.

The 42" SXII don't work nearly as well as the 43" SXs, or even 38.5s. Totally different tire. I would go with a 42" PBR or iSuck before the SXII.

I've read that about the SX's for guys that are in areas where it's combo of wet rocks and mud. I'm in southern AZ, it's 99% dry conditions and sandy washes out here. I joined this board because I'm from Florida, it's nice to correspond with guys from back east (or at least where it's green) and there's some crazy bad ass rigs on here that I've been stealing ideas from.
We had a guy from NC join up with us with a rig that was built in Alabama, I think by Copperhead Fabrication. His rig dominated everything out here with ease. Everyone was very impressed by how well it did and how it was built. Here's a pic of it. I can almost guarantee that someone on the board knows this rig.

Dang 33" LTBs on a 3000lb sammi killed the stock stuff for me. Hope the TG shafts hold up.zukimaster said:

I got the RCV shafts for Christmas, but I'd have to do a lot more than just that to hold up to 42's. I'm easy on my rig and the terrain out here is more forgiving than the rock bouncer stuff you guys do back east. I've searched all over and have found mixed opinions on it. I have a few friends that run them with no problems, but they're all single guys with no worries.
I want the 42's (only for the coolness factor), but I'm not 100% sold on the idea just yet. It's only broken parts on the trail, and getting pulled off the trail, then having it sit in the garage until the boss (aka The Wife) authorizes the repair finances. .....lol

My last buggy had fj80 axles an 42 inch super swamper it always held up pretty good if I was easy on it.

Those are strong axles, stronger than the mini truck axles. I take it easy on my stuff, I don't care too much for launching over stuff or high rev wheel spins. If 8 do the 42's, I'll get the RCV out put shafts and rear shafts in first.

been runnin 42 iroks on toyotas for bout 2 years now. there far easier on parts than the 39s ever were. toyota axles are like women... you gotta know how to treat em to get the most outta them

sure about that? my 42" SX2s are way better than my 42" iroks were. I've been happy with the SX2 so far. they've been to moab, Harlan, badlands (indy), and rousch and seemed to work well in all types of terrain. are they the best tire out there, maybe not, but they seem to work quite well anywhere.

Ok, cool. I wasn't sure who it was built by. All he told me was that he bought it from a place in Alabama. It's a well built rig and the guy that built it did a really good job. The guy that has it now is stationed out here with the Air Force and he's a pretty cool dude.
