Great time even though it was stupid hot. My buggy worked great until I had some fuel issues. Looks like a larger mixer and intercooler are in the near future. Running lean and 100 degree temps don't mix. It was great to meet some of you. I hope the promise of a 4cyl series at AOP comes through. As always, thanks Mo for all of the pics.

I'll see your and raise you 2. One on the spare mount before I even left and 2 so far on the way home. Still 5 hours to go.

good night!

Micah had 2 go on him yesterday too!

what is it with you guys and trailer tires!?!?

and we also found out my spare trailer combo is on a truck wheel so it wouldn't even mount up..... good to know , guess I need a new trailer wheel...

I blew two tires yesterday... Actually caught them in time and they were just blistered on the sidewalls. We changed one tire out, made it roughly an hour down the road and number two started going down. After some knife throwing shenanigans, We attempted to install a borrowed spare with no luck. We had no other options so we drove home on the original tire with the huge blisters cut off of the side! 50-55 mph home made for a slow ride on the highway.

Broady, thanks for turning around and trying to help us.

Mo, post the knife throwing video....

What was the issue with the red turbo buggy's motor? It seemed to be working fine until right up until comp time. I was looking forward to seeing it run.

Sorry to disappoint the crowd. I was looking forward to running it. Like Mo said, it doesn't like the heat with the current setup. It ran like a raped ape the night before but 20 degree higher temps didn't work. Going with a larger mixer and an intercooler along with some fine tuning. I can't wait to get it right. It's strong for a 8 valve 1.6.

Didn't realize that was you. Pretty brave to run a comp for your break in run! Like the rig!

Thanks! I originally built it with the help of my buddy Nathan at Custom Fab in Decatur AL. Mo just finished a large scale makeover for me. New engine, trans, turbo and new suspension geometry with all aluminum links.

Out of curiosity, how did you determine that the carb wasn't enough? It didn't seem to want to start when you were sitting on that first rock pile in front of me. I would think even a 100 would be enough to get it to start. And the way you were peeling out in that field before hand in the hot sun made it seem like it was at least enough to get it to act healthy ...

It was running lean and getting hot fast. After talking with several people with similar setups and lots of searching on the web, I need a larger mixer. As engine temps and outside air temps rise, performance goes downhill quick. It's starving for fuel and shuts off under anything but idle once warm. Once it shuts off, I have to hit the purge button to get it to crank. New mixer is on it's way along with the intercooler. Then it's off to the dyno to tune. ( shimming mixer if needed, timing, spark plug gap adjusted). I will start a new thread once everything is straightened out to help others in the future.
