School me on these things. I know nothing about them and I'm a traditional charcoal/lump grill guy. But I've heard about these you can walk away from for 8-10 hrs and not worry about heat? :eat: :fish:

I have a char griller. Bought it at lowes for $459 and love it. Temp stays within 10 degrees of setting. You can smoke at 225 or you can grill at 400. Holds 6 slabs of babybacks no problem and the wood flavor is awesome. You can see the smoke ring in your meat. Not going to be able to get one for much cheaper. I'm sure most purist will turn their nose but i have 3 kids under the age of 7 and don't have time to stoke a gire all day. 40 lb bag of wood pellets will last me about 32 hours of cooking. If your willing to spend more money you can get built in meat thermometers and some other options. I really didn't tell you much, but i sure enjoy mine.

BGE or nothing!

Lol
I'm actually using my BGE as we speak.

On the pellet grills, dad bought one a few months ago (grilla grill).

This one:

Someone talked him into this one being better than a treager (which I know nothing about either).

At any rate, he has done wings a few times and a few Boston butts. It all turned out really good and tender. thumb.gif

Thanks, ya that's me too, I enjoy grilling but some days when short on time it would be nice to not babysit it. Thanks for the reply

Don't cuss me like that

Idk man??? Really??????? Just did a quick Google search and that's what pulled up. :drinkers:

Edit, I didn't catch the abbreviation. ;D

You can cook with pellets. It's great, you have plenty of time to get your manicure, pedicure, make a man a sammich, clean out your lady parts etc.....real men use wood and charcoal.

Re:

I sell the Louisiana grills and they are great. Pellet is easy and fast for after work and when you don't have time to deal with charcoal. But I like the food better off charcoal.

There are tons of brands out there some better than others but I've had really good luck out of the ones I've sold and used in the Louisiana brand. Mines 5 or 6 years old and still works like a champ

The treager grills are good unless they changed something they would only get around 4-450* where the Louisiana will hit 600 if you want to sear something.

Flavored pellets are pretty cool for smoking too. Just use basic hardwood pellets for grilling much cheaper and you won't notice the difference

I have a Kamado Joe, BGE Mini Max and a Masterbuilt electric smoker, they each have there use but for the days I don't have time to keep a check on the grill or need to run errands I use the masterbuilt and it always produces great tasting food.

X2 on the masterbuilt. I use an Amazin pellet smoke box in the bottom to get better smoke than the factory.

I prefer coal or stick but electric is convenient for sure. I also prefer a cabinet style vs horizontal.

Have a few friends with propane and they can walk away from them once set.

Pit boss on amazon looks pretty cool. If you like flame kissed burgers this is pretry much a all in one.
I've got a holland i smoke with. don't like the indirect heat for burgers. Had to get a seperate grill for the flame kiss taste

I've already have a large and mini green egg. I have trouble keeping the heat right with the mini, the large is great, just looking at other options.

I'll take the mini off your hands if you aren't happy with it ! ;)

Stick burner fo life :JRich:

I have heard you use pellet cooker in comps?

I never did, but there are teams that do. If I was buying a smoker, I would buy an insulated upright smoker like a Backwoods, Pitboss out of Houston, Stump's, etc. BGE and all the ceramic grills are cool, I love mine but for a smoker that is always going to be a smoker and never cook steaks or burgers, an insulated reverse flow vertical cooker is the BOMB!!

It's handy for just me and the wife, something small and quick. I just can't seem to keep the heat right, I'm sure it's me.
