What do you think?

I believe that salvation is free for anyone who asks God for it with all of their heart, soul, and mind. Believing 100% that he can and will save you. When the peace that passes all understanding comes in, that is the moment that you are saved. If there was anything that I had to do to earn it, I would never have received it.

I asked the same questions as you until I was lucky enough to have the one and only God of creation reach into my life in a way I could no longer deny. I cuss, I ****, and I fight. I love and I hate... truthfully I am a terrible representative of the faith I claim to have, but God does not call the qualified, he qualifies the called. Until God shakes your foundation you will never change your mind, but when you can't do it on your own anymore, if you open your heart to him, he will change it for you.

Faith struggles to survive in our Earthly educated minds, but I think that is by design. I think there are billions of planets, and so many things that are unexplained, to teach us the importance of faith and to test our beliefs.

Also, most major religions like being Mormon, Buddhist, and Islamic, can all be traced back to the human being that created them, so yes they are 100% human created and even documented as though

This is me 100%. I'm an asshole comparatively, somewhere between Ghandi and Charles Manson. I know my number will get called one day and I'm certain on where I'm going.

I do believe that our Bible has been perverted by kings and popes over time. You can't have anything nice when humans are involved. I can't say what was and wasn't originally there, so I just try to do good to the good people and very bad to the bad. My own sort of karma thing that is my version of Christianity.

I too was raised going to church until I moved out @ 20. Never really thought about other religions cause I was southern Baptist. Lol
I believe you don't have to believe in God because he believes in you.
Ever since I was a kid I thought Jesus looked like a white dude. It wasn't until recently I saw a video and was given a wake up call. Jesus lived in the middle east. So he was probably Muslim.
I would bet most biblical story's could be debunked but its called "having faith" for a reason. Without faith in your religion there would be no religion.
At far as churches go, you don't need them. I've found the best one in the world, the outdoors. Its beautiful, quiet & amazing to see what has been created. And I'm not talking about the "big bang" type of creation. What a croc.
I've seen too much perversion in churches with preachers & deacons sleeping around.

I believe there's a special place in hell for all of the sick basterds in this world. But also believe that a mentally ill person or tribe in Africa who have never heard of God or Jesus will not be judged for not knowing. You have to knowingly reject Christ, at least that is what I was taught.

I was also taught not to talk politics or religion, but here we are.

This picture about sums it up for me, aliens. Gotta be aliens, your god could be an alien for all anyone knows. I believe I only live once and I'd rather have a lot of fun during it. If something happens, **** happens. I respect all beliefs though.

Church is a human creation, therefore it is flawed, religion is a human practice therefore it is flawed. I am sorry for those that have been spiritually scared by self proclaimed Christians who would rather spread their own personal agendas instead of the actual words of Christ.

Read the book for yourself. Jesus disliked and messed with "pretend" people of God all the time. Just like us, he couldn't stand fakes either.

What if it's all a big fairy tail and none of the above exist and you die ? Nothing, you lived your life trying to be the best person you could and you died.

What if it is real and you blew it off and never put your faith in God ? You've lost everything

I feel like that's why a lot of people are or claim to be Christian. Not all, just a lot of them. Can't hurt, so might as well. I could never view anything like that. I either believe in something enough to pursue it or not. By no means am I saying you are like this, just touching on that issue because it's something I've pondered before.

That has always bothered me. I understand why people say it, but I still think it is a cop out. I don't live my life the way I do because it is the best option, or because if things aren't true I still did good. I live my life the way I do because I know the truth. If my only reason for following Jesus is because it is the better of two options, then I have a weak testimony. I can list out countless ways God has revealed to me that He does exist and that He is alive.

1 Peter 3:15-16 "But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander." I just don't think "well if the Bible is not true at least I did good and lived right" is a source of Hope, reveres Jesus as Lord or is respectful to who God is. I think it is something folks say to make themselves feel better.

I agree with both of you fellas. That shouldnt be the reason anyone wants or claims to be a christian.. and from my understanding unless you believe and accept it with all your heart you haven't accomplished anything. The church is full of lost people just going through the motions that never accept it. Being a "good person" doesnt get you a free pass to heaven. I think its is a great thought thought though, but i know exactly what yall are saying.

Re:

I was one of those people pretty much. I mean I told myself I accepted and done everything I thought I was supposed to, but I never felt anything magical like some. Sure I raised my hands while the praise band played at youth camps and sang along, but deep down I felt like I was forcing all of it just because my buddies were doing it so I figured I didn't wanna be the black sheep.

You know why I went to church for the first time? I was real young and a friend told me about the rapture, so I got my family into church because I wanted to go....because I was scared. I was probably aroumd the age of 12 or 13 then. From there on, I was a big time member of AWANAS (approved workmen are not ashamed) which was kinda like a Christian version of the boyscouts. Then on into youth group at a later age. Highly active in all of them. Then from there began going less and less.

For what it is worth I am teaching mine about faith without fear. No threats and very little Hell as anything other than living for all eternity in the absence of God. Maybe this way they will choose the Lord sincerely for all the right reasons. We'll see

I've often wonder why people use the phrase " God fearing " Why should someone fear their god if their living their life on the good side? I understand the fear of hell.

Reverent fear. Fear of what He is capable of. Fear of His wrath. Less of a paralyzing fear and more of a respect for who He is as Creator and sustainer of life.

So it would be like the fear I had for my old man as I was growing up?
