Who owns what brand and what are your likes and dislikes? I'm in the market for a 18-20' low deck bumper pull trailer , maybe dovetail or tilt not sure.

I'm stepping up from a 7k car hauler to something that can haul toys and a 9k mini excavator.

What are the best brands and which ones should I avoid at all costs? Any must have features?

Thanks, Jeff

A company I use to work for bought a couple of 22 foot 14k bumper pull trailers from Lawrimore in Falkville, AL. They seemed to be good quality and pulled very good. Not sure what kind of price they paid for them though. Big Tex is also a very good quality trailer. I had a 51' three car wedge that was great, and I've seen several of their dump trailers hold up very well.

Side note: Are you gonna be selling your 7k car hauler? If so, how long is it and could you send me some info and pics of it? I'm in the market for one right now.

I've got a Lamar 18 flat/2' dove 14k. Pulls great, powder coat is great, and all around really like it. I selected Lamar because the continuous rub rail that the slide in ramps can hook into. I can side load a rzr up front and a full width rig out back if I want.

I have a 24' dove tail deckover tag from kaufman and I'm tickled. Probably the best bang for buck out there. It's kinda odd though. On the tag it says its rated at 18k, but it only has 2 7k axles.....

Yeah , I'm gonna sell the trailer I have, It's a Tegtmeyer's 16'+2' 82" standard car hauler with treated wood deck. Nothing too special but it does the job, has LED tail lights, EZ lube axles with brakes on one axle and Lund V- box.

Sounds good. Send me a pm with a price, location and contact info please. Thanks

Will do...you did see I'm in Cincinnati?

95% of the trailers around here are PJ , Sure-Trac , Gatormade or BigTex.

Hmm, no I didn't know you were that far away. We might still can make a deal if the price is right.

If those are your options up there I would go with Big Tex or PJ.

Not quite 14k but I have a 12k. I've got an 18' (16+2) '06 Big Tex "12 ET" 12k trailer and love it. Mine is a typical bumper pull, low deck with fenders and weighs about 2600 lbs. empty.

This is becoming more common with trailer manufacturers. They are taking the weight the trailer axles can take and adding that weight to what the tow vehicle will hold from the tailer, thus giving it a higher GVWR. Most newer horse trailers have tags like this.

I've got a 20 ft Kaufman 15k (tandem 7k axles) Deluxe Equipment trailer. My only gripe is the tongue box is kinda small and I wish I would've bought a 24-26 ft instead.

I borrowed this trailer for an 1,100 mile road trip to pickup our juggy. Was very pleased with how it pulled and overall ease of use with the ramp storage, removable fenders, adjustable hitch height, and big jack.

Although my favorite feature was all the lights located around the trailer. From a mirror perspective, it seemed like the trailer had rock lights. Made pulling an unfamiliar trailer on an unfamiliar route quite pleasant since I was able to see the trailer so well.

Iron bull. 22' with dove and monster ramps, 6" channel with 102" wide deck and drive over fenders- available in 14k or 16k. I shopped around a lot and had to travel to get this one. You can get this one new for about $4500. Great welds, powdercoat appears to be solid. I have only had it 6-7 months but it a great trailer so far.

I'm really surprised there's no body running tilt decks , is it the initial cost or maybe difficulty loading a broken rig?

I've also wondered what else you guys are hauling with your trailers , did you you buy a 14k trailer to haul a 4K rig or do they see heavier equipment hauling duties?

Occasionally haul small equipment, cars and trucks- moved up from a 10k flat deck 18'.

my bro in law and FIL have tilt decks and they are very convenient- except I wanted low deck. I couldn't find a tilt, low deck at 102" wide. Need the 102" for my crawler. This trailer does it all and while it's oversized for my RZR, it does that OK too.

Where did you get it at?

I've only been around one tilt deck trailer and that was years ago. That one was a manual tilt deck, bumper pull in the 20 foot range. It was stupid heavy and expensive in comparison to the non-tilt deck trailers with same ratings and sizes. But the bossman had a good year, so wanted the more expensive option for tax purposes.

Cost mainly. Most of the guys I wheel with are the same. A tilt deck would make stuff 15x easier. Not sure for everyone one else but cost wise it's not much more money to get a 14k trailer than a 7k or 10k. Plus you never know when you buddy with a 6.0 is gonna blow a HG or you need to haul a skid steer or mini ex. Easier to have more trailer than you need than not enough.

Also interested in who you got the trailer through? I have a hard time getting any response from dealers in the area.
