Need opinions on headers/exhaust on buggy

My new buggy has a 383 big heads/cam holley sniper, th350,atlas. The headers that are on it are outside the frame and I can't keep exhaust on it because I use it as a slider.. I've looked for a short header that I could use with a muffler but I can't seem to find what I need. I'd rather run it inside the frame but i can because the t case is in the way.
I really don't want it to be loud either, if I could fab up some header muffler combo is there and quite muffler you would recommend?

I have been running shorty headers from hooker exhaust. I run driver drop axles so I run the driver side down in front of the oil pan and connect to a wye pipe then to a muffler then out the back or side depending on rig. It does well for low end torque, sounds good and is kept inside the frame rails.

I was looking at that, but the way the exhaust would go around my links it would put it directly under my oil filter.
I would hate to have to pull exhaust to change my oil

Could you add some bent tubing every few feet (think like driveshaft loops in drag cars/monster trucks) along the exhaust to protect it a little better?

I haven't thought about that. Like a tubing boatside?

Kinda sorta. How hard would it be to mini boat side (rock rail to frame) or max boat side (tub to frame) your existing rig? That would increase your slide-ability and exhaust protection.

Original thinking was like @rafter b2000 buggy has the tubing to protect-ish the headers. In your case you'd have to have additional tubes since full exhaust.

I struggled with the same thing on mine and came up with one of 3 solutions, cause open headers in a valley blows. Each has their own unique challenges.

A. Tuck up the exhaust tube and boatside around it.
B. Use Ar500 (not a500 lol) tube and turn your exhaust into a slider.
C. (What I did) If you have the room inside, run the exhaust inside the cab area, along the side of the seats, and out the back to the mufflers of your choosing. Heat control & materials must be taken very seriously with this method.

I run this using dual 2.5" to Borla multicore bullets next to the seats, then out back sits a pair of mini magnaflow bullets.

Btw, I went back to using manifolds to make this work. C6 ls2 manis flipped & reversed. They're 1.75" primaries with a 2.5" angled center dump.

I like the turn exhaust into slider option. I may try this.

Just to add some experience to the discussion.... my Smith buggy came with the typical open midlength headers, and later added a pr of Dynatech Spitflows on the ends. But, you have to shorten the header to fit mini muffs or you'll rip em off. It was a bunch of work and expense for barely any noticeable reduction in decibels. Not worth it imho, especially if you have lots of cam chop like I do. Either get creative or get a set of NRR earmuffs and deal with it.

Just make the section removable right there by the oil filter. 2 vbands and drop a section. I used to do that on my buggies not because it had to be, but because it made changing the starter very easy if you ever needed to

I would do everything possible to not need to use your exhaust as a slider. Look at flattened/oval tubing, routing headers a different way, going around the front of the oil pan and down the other side, etc.
