i've got mine mounted onthe lip of the fender between the fender and hood . with a heavy duty spring works good for me.

sorry 90 toyota pickup ex cab i have it mounted on the tool box now but i dont really think it is gettin out very good there but i have ran other grounds to it im just lookin at were others have theres mounted at

Well, I guess Im not the best person to talk to about it, since I dont use mine for long range at all, I just use it to talk to people in the same group Im in, or the same campground. Therefor, I didnt exactly try and get it mounted anywhere of any real benifit or follow any of the rules of thumb for mounting a CB antenna.

I have mine mounted on the drivers side bed rail at the front of the bed behind the cab on my truck. My girlfriends 4Runner has hers mounted to the stock rear bumper.

well with mine mounted where it is , properly tuned and the radio super tuned and putting out almost 25 watts . on a good day I've been able to talk to some friends on the Tacoma tide flats. when i was at the toip of the 520 trail at Evans.figured it was about a 20 mile straight line shot. from where i was you could actually see part of Tacoma using a set of bino's.

the CB's in my work trucks ('90s Mack Dump Trucks) are cheap thrashed junk, and with a single 4 ft'er mounted to the mirror, I can reach from the Pit at one end of town to the other Pit on the far end of town, and thats about 14 miles.
One word of advise, don't use twin antennas. they tend to cancel each other out, unless they are mounted way far apart. Semi's run about 8' apart on the mirrors, and thats a little too close.

thanks for the info guys im not to into getting way out there i just want to beable to talk from on side of town to the other only about maby a 5 mile radius so im not needing to much power i was just trying to see were ever one has theres mounted at im thinking of just taking it off my aluminum truck box and puttin it some ware that has a better ground like bite me has his ill have to ponder a while to see if it is really worth dicking around with in the 30 degree weather or not i might have to wait till it warms up a tad bit :haha: thanks again
