suggestions on my new 80 toy.

i finally got my dream truck after 6 months of tryin to get the engine fixed. what should i do? its my daily driver.

Looks good. I might track down a replacement bed, get it color match painted, swap it in. Then order the sweet orange and white sticker package.

sell it and get a real wheeler............just kidden...lol....have fun with it and when it breaks upgrade it..we have all been there.....:redneck:

It looks like enough mild mods have been done, that nothing really needs to be done. You don"t want a DD to be very extreme, usually!

Like was said before, just upgrade as the need arises...

Im with stupid.

Although, even as a pavement pounder, Id go for hysteer, and front brake upgrades with a larger bore master cylinder, Land Cruiser rotors and IFS truck calipers to start with, maybe even a manual proportioning valve for the rear.

Those are the two things that plagued me with my truck when it was stock-ish like yours. Sometimes just improving on the stock designs before making it more "capable" is the best plan. I broke steering arms multiple times (scary - to say the least), and the brakes always left me wondering when I was actually going to be able to stop. After I put on hysteer, the difference in ease of turning is amazing, and the brake upgrades makes it feel much more safe driving on the road.

Also, as someone else said, if its going offroad at all, having good recovery points will be helpful if you get yourself stuck and need help getting out.

thanks for all the advice. i really wanted to be able to fit 36's under there as it only has 33's. i was wondering if i just replaced the springs that are on there now with marlin crawler 6" springs if i would have to do anything else to the suspension. i think i may get some rocksliders and maybe a rear bumper. but once again thanks for the advice.

6" springs will work but the tires will rub if the rig is articulates hard.

I have 5" lift and 35" tires and the fronts rubbed hard on the back of the fenders and the front of the cab wells. I had to move the front axle up 2" and it still is close. The tire will move backwards as the spring is compressed. I have a flat bed on back so no issues there.

Here is an old pic with the 5" springs, 1" lift shackles, 35" tires and the axle is move 1" forward. Thats with the wheel pointed striaght ahead.
