Getting pretty pumped because my little brother should be leaving Afghanistan any day now. He gets to come spend a month at home after her goes through all his pre deployment **** and we planning on spending a weekend drinking beer, talking about ***** and other man **** and hooking up his 04 F-150 FX4. We're looking for a leveling kit, intake, exhaust, wheels and tires. We're going to do a programmer already but I already got that lined up with diablewtune.com (great dude). Anyways anybody on here deal in all those other parts. Would rather try hooking up the little man before I went through 4 wheel parts or somewhere else. Also interested in tire recomendations. I think he said 35 ' s will fit with the leveling kit. He will be driving back and forth from Ohio to NY a few times so looking for something that looks good and gets good road miles.

Nitto Trail Grappler M/T, Toyo Open Country M/T, and Cooper Discoverer STT (mud terrain and probably my favorite). All WILL wear exceptionally well if rotated and front end is aligned properly....especially on a half ton. If he's looking for an M/T, that is.

Re:

Yea it's just a half ton mall crawler. Just looking for something to make it look tough and help the boy get some *****.

Hey! A Chevy Vortec motor is made from real tornados, and will roundhouse kick a Ford in the face!

I have a 2006 with leveling kit and 295/55/20 on factory King Ranch wheels. Pretty much a 35". They are Nitto Terra Grapplers and got over 30,000 miles on em and they still look new. Only been rotated once

If you wanna haul a heavy load (like Marsha), get you a Chevy.......if you wanna swallow a heavy load (like Brock), get you a Ford.... :flipoff1:

Re:

I'm a die hard Chevy fan myself and I had my brother headed down the right road despite Jim coming from his ford loving daddy. But when his daddy died a year a half ago my brother inherited this 04 with only 40k on the clock. I will make sure his next truck is the right one.

Re:

Show him the Silverado parody commercial part 2 on the YouTube, he will have to get one then!! I would link it but tapatalk sux

Tell him good luck with that era f150... They are huge pieces of **** in my opinion.

I'd sell it now while it's still worth a bit

Re:

Yeah since I'm not a Ford fan I don't know anything about them other than its a Ford so it has to be a POS right? It would be a lot easier to talk him out of it if it wasn't his dad's truck. It's pretty much the only thing he has left from him so he's pretty set on keeping it which is fine as long as he don't mind paying to fix it.

My last one I had, had 200k miles on it when I sold it. Drug my heavy Tacoma on tons all over the southeast, including Harlan. Only problem it ever had was a coil pack going out so I replaced all the plugs while I was at it.

Was yours an 04? Just curious

I'm sure it's like anything else, there's good and bad ones.

My friend Mike has an 04 that be bought new, only used for normal commuting and very light occasional towing. Has 76k on it now. It's needed brakes twice, both front wheel bearings, one vacuum hub, bearing in front diff tube, new tcase (under warranty), new rear u joints, pinion seal, one front caliper, and one rear wheel bearing.

Seems like there is always something wrong with it... I wouldn't be surprised if I hadn't known the truck and how it was used since new.

No, I had 2 different 2006s.

Ah, I believe it was mostly the 04 that had problems. I know there are several parts on the 04 that don't interchange with later years of the same model.
