I have a 06 Chevy 3500 duramax that the a a work truck that's having tranny issues. Is there anyone in Birmingham that anyone would recommend?

Phillip at Frost Transmission in Remlap does good work. My only experience with him has been with 4L60's though.

Does it have anything to do with the 329k miles it has on it? :)

Chip at world transmission is an excellent trans guy, especially with older stuff.

It was running perfectly until I dropped it off at this little "shade tree mechanic" I think he messed it up to get more money out of me. :flipoff1:

We pull overweight loads with below average employees driving. It pulls fine for a 45 min trip on interstate. When you exit the transmission shifts hard then starts to slip badly. No message on dash.

My Allison in my 750 started shifting hard ended up being speed sensor my try that

I'm really surprised it's giving any trouble...I thought that the Allison transmission was the greatest thing ever invented :dunno:

Yeah, after you build them right. Look into someone that deals in Suncoast parts or talk to Merchant Automotive in MI, they both build bad ass transmissions

Fleece Performance in Indiana. Brayden knows the Allison as well as anyone I would bet. he's built 2 of them for me (1 SCIII and a SCIV)

Apparently all of the unicorn piss or fairy dust fell out of it. :dunno:

Not really lookin for a performance rebuild. It's just a beat up work truck. Just someone around bham that knows what they are doing and won't jew me.

I lived in bham for years. Moved out about 6 years ago. And I can't remember a damn good trans shop that I know knows Allisons off the top of my head. But I have some feelers i can put out. Let you know what I can come up with. Try pming Josh rohling he might can help before I can

I live about 30 minutes from hawk pride and I don't mind taking a look at it or rebuilding it if it needs it but I am probably 2 hrs from you

Too bad your not closer. I have a few layin around.
Wtf. Why? Save me one. Just incase. Ha.
Eddy keep updated. I just wanna know what they say.. **** scares me , I'm not sure I can handle some **** like that right now .. I have been readin a lot lately on duramax's and they all say the same as buddy above.. There's some kit for around 130-150 buks that's "pretty easy" to install that will make it last a good bit longer. And change filter every 10k miles. Ha. When I read that I exited out.! I'm at 250 k miles and never have changed mine. FAWK.

Re:

The guy from the Hardline ride in the Cadillac Buggy (Sting). Is big into Duramaxs and is a great dude to deal with. He doesn't do much with transmissions but I bet he maybe able to help give you some advice on who to talk to or trouble shoot the problem a bit. Before he got into rock crawling he had a Duramax powered dragster that ran in the 7s.

Pull the pan and check for any debris. If the truck is stock I doubt the tranny is hurt from what your telling us about it. You need to put a scanner on it (not a code reader) and see what codes it has. I betting it has a shift valve hanging and with a new fluid and filter change and maybe clean the valve body you will be good. Fleece performance does do very good work!! I consider Brayden and Chase very good friends and they have helped me a lot on the dragster and a race truck I had. Very good people and honest.

This guy has fixed a couple of buddies Allisons, they were very pleased with his work and price. He's about an hour and a half from you.
