I am looking to build the ultimate budget wheeler. I don't plan on having it for more than a year. I am starting with an XJ:puke: that I bought for $600 in a divorce sale.

Add these parts...
$100 crappy old BFG MT's 33x12.50x15
$60 crappy old steel wheels with free tire mounting
$15 5/16" wheel spacers for the rear (giving me 3/4" between tire and spring)
$free brand new smittybuilt 8k lbs winch (traded beadlocks for it)

and add a sawsall, some homade bumpstops, a case of beer, and steel I have laying around for armor, and you have a wheeler for well under $1k. I will be hacking on it today, so I will get pics up later.

NICE!!!!!!:awesomework:

I just got hooked up with a replacement uni-body to swap all my parts over to..

think Iam gunna spend more time on this one getting it prepped before it goes out on a trail:redneck: Definatly gunna have better brakes on this one:haha:

lol, been there. My last one even blew out the stainless braided brakelines. I have seen a rare couple xj's with 33s on stock suspension (that actually wheel) and I figured I could do it. Low COG and cheap.

Well, I got the 33s on, removed the flares, and cut the rear fenders. I jumped on the back until the bumpstops hit and I still had good clearance on the rears, but the fronts rub a bit when turning. This problem will be fixed tomorrow when I hack apart the front. The tires only stick out an inch or so at the top, so the flares are staying off. Here are the pictures. first is the rear before I cut it, and the second is all cut up.

I cut the front, but my wife decided to leave and it is blocked in... No test wheeling until she gets home.

All cut up, waiting on the 5/16" wheel spacers. Then I will bump stop it and there will be no rubbing. I wheeled my yard, and it did ok, other than rubbing on the control arm a little.
