We've been planning this race for over a year and the time is here to spill the beans a little
ECORS will be putting up $10,000 for first place in Class C (unlimited) for first place, $1,000 for second, and $600 for third. As more people sign up beyond the minimum, we'll increase the payout for the top 3!
We'll need minimum numbers to meet this but its VERY realisitc. With just our normal ECORS season racers, thats half of the minimum right there! We are limiting the field for each class to 80 rigs so we can actually manage everyone.
Nov 5 at Windrock
Pre-running is Wed and Thursday as well as Friday afternoon.
Friday morning will consist of a Last Chance Qualifier for anyone that hasn't qualified or if their application wasn't accepted already
Saturday morning we will have the UTV race for 4 hrs.
Late Saturday morning we'll start off with Class C, then B, then A. By 4pm, all classes will be out on course (subject to change depending on number of entrants).
Each class will have maps and a course to follow. Checkpoints will be set up so Class C stays on C course, B on its course, and so on.
In addition to the pre-running, LCQ, and race, we will be having various seminars put on by industry professionals. These will start Friday and will cover most anything off-road, such as: shock selection and tuning basics, basic 4x4 driving, advanced 4x4 driving, outdoor/4x4 photography, wilderness first aid, trail and race prep, vehicle recovery, basic fabrication techniques, etc.
OK, so now you are convinced to race or at least attend to watch. Here is how you may go about getting the chance to take a shot at the big $$$
1. be a 2011 ECORS annual member AND race at least 2 races prior to this race
2. Race in an ECORS qualifier race, currently we have the August 27 race in Silver Valley, NC set up as a qualifier race. 3 spots for Class C, 1 for B, 1 for A
3. Fill out an application and send it in for approval. We will have about 30 spots available for teams that choose to go this route.
4. Race in the Last Chance Qualifier race Friday Nov 4. This will be a 1 lap run around the course. We will have 10 spots available here at a minimum. If others are not used then we will add them to the minimum.
Those are your options to get into this race. Remember, if we have 100% max capicity for competitors, I'll say that we'll have a first place prize that will nearly double the posted $10,000! So, start thinking about this race now and make your plans and start prepping your rigs. This won't be a 2 hr race, expect to truly test yourself and your rig if you want any chance of the $10,000!
