I would like to have a 12 v air compressor something to use on the trail, Ive seen and used the cheepo ones tha take forever , anyone know of something one step better but not to spendy??

I have a TruckAir by Interdynamics. It is slow, but has a long duty cycle, meaning you don't ahve to turn it off every ten minutes that it's running.

I tried 12V compressors, and even 110 compressors with an inverter, I decided I needed a York after it was all said and done.

You can usually find a Puma 12V compresor with tank on E-bay for under $200. That's what I have and it's a nice unit. The specs are:

3.4 cfm @ 40 psi
3 cfm @ 90 psi
100% Duty Cycle

I have a ViAir 400. It has a 33% duty cycle and I have 2 gallon tank on it. It works fine. I have been the air bitch after a trail ride (30 to 45 min of use) and it has never died or overheated on me. The compressor pumps 2.54cfm at 150psi.

The ViAir 450 is a 100% duty cycle but only puts out 1.5cfm at 150 PSI.

Either way, they are good units. I got on to them when talking to the low rider guys who use them for thier air bag suspensions.

It was about $200.

you get what you pay for.... if you go cheap now you'll end up buying a good one in the long run. i use a 10lb Co2 tank that i built (complete w/Co2) for under $100.00 and use my Thomas compressor as a back up. chris, 93JSPEC (JNKRNR) also runs this compressor. with Co2 it takes about a minute to air up one 36" tire. i pay about $12.00 for refills and fill my tank 2 maybe 3 times a year.

i paid $12 for my york and have filled thousands of tires. it puts out more air than can pass thru a scheader valve with a dime under the throttle screw. its been pumping for 8 years without trouble.

its not 12v but way better im my opin for a lot less money. even after switch, plumbing, and 2 gallon tank, with all the fittings was less than a hundred.

12 volt air
Are you looking for the best or the cheepest?
When I bought my quick air 3 it was top dog.
Still a good unit, but there are better ones out there.
What it is ?????
Cheeeeeep..........est..........by far
Pull-A-part the old chev & caddy cars with air ride :;
I think you can get them for like 5-8 bucks.
Then you just have to get the switch and ends.
I have the article (from a toy site) and I evan have a couple of them.
Some place :booo:

oh ****, I didn't even notice, you're in Texas...

uh... i'm not, in lacey. if you drop a tank there they will still likely send to tacoma to get filled but its cheaper than if you take it to the tacoma store... dont ask me why. tacoma always charged $15.00 or more. last time i dropped mine in lacey they did it on the spot (they used their 100lb tank to fill mine).

oh, says TX in your sig so thought that's where you're at...
I'm back and forth b/w Seattle/Bellevue. The only place in the Seattle area that will fill (no one on eastside fills) is Fire King in W Seattle, $1/lb
