I am getting ready to build a 14 bolt front end for my new ride . I was wondering if any one on here has done this yet . I have never messed with 14 bolts and have heard you can shave two inches off the bottom for clearance . I am also looking for a 35 spline carrier . I am going to run spidertrax setup for steering with 50 deg or 60 knuckles . Just looking for any information or concerns you may have .

Talk to Kelly on the shave. He has a shave kit that will save you a ton of time and make it super easy. Why not get blank inners and custom spline them to the 14 bolt 30 spline? My next rig will have 14 bolts front and rear :woot: When I do it I want to find 2 cucv 14 bolts and will have detroits and 4.56's

That kit did give you a lot more clearance .. You did a really good job with the rear end

My only problem with running any other axles but spidertrax is getting the deg of turn out of them with out braking them

Thanks. It requires a 1/8" off the ring gear and you also have to grind the top of the housing to get the carrier, ring gear in. I owe Kelly big time for helping me out on it. It wouldnt have came out so good if he wasnt helping me.

I have 14 bolts under my rig with spidertrax knuckles on them. I just had them build my inner shafts 30 spline. I have been running them over a year now and they are holding up great.

Thanks For the info Adam . I have seen your driving in person If you haven't be able to tear them up yet . This is defiantly what i am after then .I will give spider a call this afternoon and see what they can do for me . I am headed to Fl. next week, I may stop by your shop and talk to you about this a little more in detail , and would like to see you set .

Sounds good.

Call the shop if your interested in the spidertrax stuff. We can get you set up with all of what you need for the build.

didnt you break your front at the hammers

How about this . I had to turn the hubs down a little on my rear end, but i think it will now fit my wheels . The hubs still look thick enough that it wount hurt the strength .

Yeah I broke the actual housing though. It broke where the tube presses into the cast on the chunk. It was nothing to do with the axle shafts. The truss held the front end together and let us finish the race.

He was asking about axle shafts and we have not had a problem yet with them. Even on the broke housing they held up fine.
