Well my last post in here got beat down and closed down so I figured I would see if I could get one to last. I will have to make sure not to ask for advise or suggestions this time haha.
Well here's what I have been doing with my 2000 Toyota Tacoma. The frame was toast so I ended up figuring that I would take the parts that I wanted from it and sell the rest of it.
So I bought a nice straight 1991 4runner for $500 and so far have swapped the 3.4 into it but still have yet to wire it in and start it up. I just have to get power to the ECU and then splice it in with the 4runner harness. I'm also throwing the Toyota Electric locker from the Tacoma into the 4runner. I got it all out of the Tacoma already just have to modify my axle housing to get it in there and wire it up.
I called up the local auto parts store to check some prices for brakes cause I figured with the new found power I wanted it to stop. I don't know why but the previous owner removed some random things from it. It is totally missing the drivers side brake pads so I will probably have to get calipers too. I checked the part numbers for both the 91 4runner and the 2000 Tacoma and they both have the same back brakes so I'm planning on just swapping them. He had obviously let the axle halves and brakes sit in the rain when he took whatever locker he had in the rear out cause the drums are rusted on pretty solid. He just shoved the axles and a third member back in before I came and picked it up.
There were also two bolts backed out of the transfer case too but none of the others looked like they had been touched. Covered in a bunch of grime. It's also missing a couple bolts from the front IFS setup so I have to figure out if anything up there is messed up or if I can just replace the missing bolts.
I traded a friend my 35 inch mud terrains that have seen some abuse for some almost brand new looking 33 inch all terrains on some Aluminum wheels. They are a pretty aggressive all terrain that have some decent tread to them. I gave him $160 on top of my tires and felt like I got a great deal. The offset sticks a little bit farther out than I would like but I can deal with it.
I'm just throwing some FJ-80 coils in the rear to lift it a bit and I will get some ball joint spacers in the front to tide me over for now and so the 33's will fit all around.
I also picked up some 4 inch widened fiberglass front fenders that I might throw on it but I would need to repair them first.
I'd have some pictures of the engine swap and all but I have been working by myself and haven't wanted to stop to take pictures.
