I have a buddy who owns a Diesel shop, C&P equipment located next to Sokal park. I know he has done a lot of these.

Ive been doin some research into it and youve gotta pull the motor to switch the part.

Theres a crossmember in the way and its impossible to get the oil pan off.

I was told the oil pump was the problem on said truck.

Not shure though but something in the oil pump supposedly drives the injector pump and when the oil heats up it cant pump the fuel.

Just what ive heard though.

yea, its the high pressure oil pump... hell, i don't know anything about diesels but i was told first hand by JP and Lee Hurly of hesco that its the oil pump...
and the HPOP drives the injectors...

Call my buddy Chris, 205-366-1732, Tell him I told you to call. He can answer any questions you have. He is the one who has the 4 seater buggy with the 7.3 powerstroke in it.

sweet.. thanks cole :dblthumb:

really.. no diesel guys in here..

And yes, there are 2 oil pumps... a low pressure one in the pan.. which requires engine removal
as well as a high pressure hpop located on the side of the engine.. this is the one that drives the injectors and creates the fuel pressure...

gna call cole's buddy when i get the truck...

I don't think you have to pull the motor to do this. I googled "high pressure oil pump 7.3" and came up with a bunch of tech articles on how to replace or repair. If that doesnt help call chris at c&p he can get you fixed up. Tell him that I told you to call. Cole has no pull anywhere! :flipoff1:

Have you priced the pump yet? From what I remember they aint cheap, like around $800.00 or so.May want to consider that before trading.

That powerstroke has a 15* hpop and should be the same install as the 17*. I'm assuming you're gonna leave it a stock truck but if modifying is in the future pick up a super duty hpop. I've seen a write up on either powerstrokenation or powerstroke.org but the one you posted should go the exact same way

Thats a good trade for you and him, Your getting something you need and he's getting something he wants . thumb.gif

yep, traded yesterday...

for

1995 f250 long bed single wheel single cab powerstroke 7.3 / manual
new 285 bfg at's, winch bumper that my 8274 will slide right into... ;D

the high pressure pump is in the valley of the engine no need to pull engine remove fuel filter housing 2 oil lines that run to the head one bolt that holds the gear on and 2 10mm that hold the pump on its not that bad
