Congrats bro! It's a great feeling for sure. Laugh all you want at my Vitara, but with only 45K miles and the **** got 28 on one tank coming from Houston, I hope to keep it a while and try saving some cash with gas at $3.29 here

I'm going the opposite way. The tranny on my F-150 started slipping while pulling the boat last week so I upgraded to professional grade. The Ferd already had over 100k miles, had some serious electrical problems, needed new tires and a serious tuneup as well. I swear I could tear up a concrete block. Its a good thing my job pays my truck note at least. ;D

i am wanting a Dmax too...

my drivers side window in the F150 spontaneously exploded right before my eyes on wednesday (due to a failing motor and regulator i might add)....i am ready to trade it in.....just need to get in the house for a few months first....then i am getting a diesel for sure.....

I'm only towing a 21 ft Cape Horn a couple of hundred yards from the storage to launch, so a 1/2 will do the job. With GM's 100K mile drivetrain warranty, when I tear this thing up, it will be their problem. Plus, the duramax was about 8k more, had no incentives, and the only one they had was 53k. :o I got this for 2k below invoice plus 3,250 in incentives + they gave me the private sale value on the F-150 along with 0%. I was going to drive the Ford another year, but I couldn't pass this deal up. U gotta remember, I drive about 3k miles a month for work, so they basically make the payments anyway from gas mileage. I need something cushy to take clients around in. ;D Plus, 19 mpg now is a little easier than the 14 mpg is used to get.

No doubt on the new D-max. I want a new truck super bad. Even went and looked.
2007 1 ton crew cab, dually 4x4 with a D-max/Allison, 1st one my dealer had gotten was last Monday and it was an LTZ package. $55k!!!!!!!!!!!!
HOLY BAT ****! I'll get a new D-max in the next year, prolly going to get a 2 wheeldrive LT1 or LT2 package and add to that. And definately put a set of 22.5"s on it. Until then my '02 Crewcab D-max has to stop wearing out pitman and idler arms like its a fat kid and they're jelly donuts.

I have not had the pitman/idler arm problem Wyatt, or maybe I just have and don't know it ;D Are they any symptoms that let you know you are having the problem?

Brock that is a great truck and since you don't tow there is really no incentive to the extra cost.

wyatt has the rcd 6" on his and 35's. the rcd kit put the steering at a more severe angle and the bigger tires and poorly designed steering tie rod causes problems. if the tie rod were straight, it would be less of a problem, but after the idler and pitman, it kicks back. when the tires push in or out, the drag links push at an "up" angle on the tie rod, and this rotates is along its lateral axis, trashing the tre's on the pitman and idler. normally, with the body style before it, it was a straight tie rod and it ate idlers at the pivot point by the frame, not the tre end. just poor design is all. if your torsions are cranked any, it is putting extra stress on you pitman and idler. you will notice some sloppiness in the steering, like the right and left don't always agree at the exact same moment.

Thanks, Capt Carl and I test drove some diesels but with me driving 30-35k miles a year and only 5% of the time towing, I just couldn't justify the extra costs. It will tow 10,000 and will easliy pull a jeep on a trailor. ;D
