so a first gen diff bolts into my 3rd gen housing but i rolled the truck back today and it was making a grinding noise could just be the brakes but i dont know is there any problems when you bolt up the diff

Did you spin the pinion before you put in your shafts? It should work but i could be wrong.

I have a 2nd gen 3rd member in a gen 3 wide rear housing. Works great:beer:

yea the diff is good if thats what your asking now that i think about it i never put gear oil in it...

no I ment to see if the ring gear was hitting anything in the housing before you put your shafts back in by spinning the pinion yoke once you tightend up you 3rd bolts. I don't think you would notice crunching from rolling back a rig with no diff oil in it. Did you drive it down the road? Test drive? now that would mess **** up.

toyota's are pretty darn simple, id guess if it bolts in then it should work. The problem is probably obvious, try putting the rear on jack stands and turning your tires while bending an ear to hear where the grinding is coming from.

And thanks again for the 4.10 3rd Tim!
