2.2 ecotech

easy to achieve 200 plus horse with a cam and injectors. Turn key sell's them, I have personal experiece with their 290 horse model it goes for $8,999, it's a good motor, the one we put into mac's car dynoed at 305 horse on the engine dyno. they are a strong motor, but it takes big gear reduction to make them work good. The car had a 5.0 atlas, ?1.7 glide and 6.43 diff gears and found a few situation's where it didn't wanna pull out of stall.
 
that was in a rear engine buggy right? if i get it it will be a front engine t350 to a dana 300 with 4to1 and some kinda gears in the axels. does that sound good to you ?:cheer:

Doesnt the chevy aveo also have the eco tech in it?

What are the torque numbers on the ecotech? And to what horsepower can you run it at day after day, without blowing the fawker up? I dont know much about these rear engine buggy moonbuggy motors, but if they are like your typical make power up high in the RPM range 4 cylinder I would rethink your options. Educate me people.:D

Mac's car made something like 305hp, 260tq. the power came on real soon due to the lack of size of the turbo. with the super low gear's and the 2300 stall it was more than plenty, in the few places it lacked power I'm sure it would have done the same to any other rig, that or **** parts. they seem to take the power real well. They are the hot ticket due to being all aluminum, and 4 cylinder(light). If you're thinking moon buggy though the only way to roll is air cooled VW, 200 lbs lighter(lack of radiator and water), all the motor weight is about a foot tall oil pan to top, and hold oil pressure all day right side up or upside down. And they make a nice 220ish hp. that is all.

Seeing those numbers, I would shoot right past that and go 96 and on vortec 4.3, or if you need more 5.7. Torque comes on sooner, stays in the powerband better under load, will bolt up to the t-350 without an adapter, parts are easier to find, and has a powerband of a v-6, rather than a rev it up stairs 4 cylinder motor. Maybe I am wrong, but thats the way i would go in a front engine rig. Sorry Dan as i am a little off topic, but I thought about all these engine options before I had mine built and believe I made the right choice. But what works for me, might not be right for you. What ever you deceide on it will be good to see you on the trail again soon.:cool:
 
well the old comp rig did good less it needed a 4to1 in it with only having 96hp

im thinking that it should be just fine. If i buy the turn key stuff it will make a 170hp

so what im thinking is that with me doing all the work on the wiring and then put a small turbo on it so it will make maybe like 5-8lbs of boost should do me very well


and i dont want the rig to be over like 2300 lbs so hooping that with the small motor should be fine

and what im getting the motor for dam if i blow it up ill jsut go buy another one :mad:

the turn key 290 horse ecotec is regulated to 5 psi.

yeah $8999 get's you a turn key(ready to run) 300 horse motor. I'm not getting you're point?
