Maybe a little early for this, but let's have some discussion so we can continue talks about this at our next meeting. I feel like the rides this year have been pretty much a failure. Hopefully Monteagle will get us all back on track and get everybody together for some good times! I feel like this year we tried to accomidate everybody and wheel close to home. Problem is not many people actually showed up to the rides.

My view on 2010 is this, I have a new baby at home and I don't want to be away from them all the time to wheel. I love wheelin, but I also like the sense of adventure and fun of traveling to new places and making a weekend out of it. I think we should look at less rides, but at new places that are not just day trips. I think 3-4 travel rides, an open ride at a local park and RBD ride make a pretty good schedule. There are enough open rides at the local places that you can ride every weekend if you want to. Those don't have to be club rides. I think we should schedule one ride a quarter and try to have a mix of locations. I would love to do Mayhem in TN, Harlan, WindRock, Hot Springs, etc. on the schedule. This was the basis for which the club was started, we got away from it this year and seems to have made things worse instead of better. This is just my opinion, thought it would be good to have a little discussion.

I like the idea. I only get 2 weekends off a month and I don't mind useing one of them to go on rides out of town and it gives me the other one to do whatever Lori wants to do. I really like Harlan and it is always a good time. Also I would like to hit up Hot Springs. The 1 time I went I really enjoyed it.
I am sure I won't be wheeling as much next year because I plan on purchasing a house and that will be a big expense for me.

I agree on the ride a quarter. I don't think you should count RBD, as it is not a Hardline ride. I am also in favor of making a third day (Friday) an option for those that can make it. That allows 1/3 to 1/2 more riding time, with little added expense, assuming your work schedule is flexible. I am not sure we need an open ride, it was not well supported this year, and as you said, there are places to ride every weekend. If the non-members on the board push it, then we should do it, but i don't think they care.

Cool, good to see others are thinking the same. The open ride was really just to support a local park and get some attendance. The two years we have done them the turnout was just ok, this year it monsooned at Choccolo. I was thinking maybe have one at Mside to support Bob?

I still think we should do the crawl at KOTH course on the schedule as well as maybe some sort of local ride at a new place. I know most of us have not yet gone to Hawk Pride or Hale Mtn, that would be a good day trip. So 3-4 travel rides and 1-2 day rides close by seems like a pretty good balance to allow most to participate.

John I also like the approach to ride Friday if you want and your work schedule allows. If not come after work, and ride Sat and Sun AM. For places where night riding is ok you can also wheel Fri night (Harlan, Windrock, Clayton, etc.)

For the longer trips like Harlan, Hot Springs, etc. I will go up on Thurs night so I have Fri-Sun to ride. Since it is only 4 times a year getting the day off should be easier for most.

Be thinking about this and lets start discussing dates and locations at the meeting next week.
