Yes, you can check the timing. Put a socket wrench on the bolt in thr front of the crank. Turn the crank tell the mark in the pulley lines up with the timing marker. You will have to pull the #1 spark plug and make sure it is coming up on it's compression stroke. Then take a look at the rotor to see if it is pointing to #1.You talked to me about the MSD box. Have you checked the ignition box in the truck now. maybe it went bad.
