Rig died tonight on my way home from work.

Bad-

Only does this intermittenly.
Usually when warm.
Compression start doesn;t work.
Starter fluid doesn't work.
... Truck is sitting in QFC parking lot for the night.

Good-

It's getting plenty of fuel.
Starter is cranking over like normal.
Battery is good.
If i let it sit for 2-3 hours it starts up no problem.

Usually it acts up like this after a short drive when i shut it off and come back to try and restart it, However tonight I got gas, started it up, was forwarding through some songs, and at idle it just up and died. For the past month it's been great though.

I know i've been told many of ideas as to what it can be, but i think tonight i've rulled out any carb related probs. I would assume my problem would be between the coil and the distributer. Any input/experience to solve my problem would be greatly appreciated!

Signal generators, igniter and coil can all do that.
Time for some real diag instead of the e-diag.:awesomework:

crap, I was hoping you wouldn't say that. Would it throw a bad signal when it runs fine? Thats a problem i have, it only happens once in a while so trying to have someone there to diagnose it is hard to come by.

Doesn't usually throw a code on the old stuff.

Just so i can rap this thread up and for others forwarning. It was the Coil/Igniter, a part that virtually never goes out but in my case it did. I believe it has been going out for afew months now because its running smoother and has more power! :awesomework: Thanks for the help
