I'm picking up my motor this week, and I'm looking for a header for it. What brand are you running and any problems with them? Been told to look at NW Offroad? and Downey due to they use a CNC flange. And not to use the ones that have the o-ring style flange! Any info would be great please! I want a problem free header if that's at all possible!

I have a Doug Thorley. It's been on there for years, and never had a problem with it at all.

My NWOR header has the cutouts for the stock air injection ports whereas that one does not. Looks similar otherwise

I do not think Stan's makes NWOR headers.

At the least, the flange is different. There may be other differences.

How thick is the flange on the Stans header. The NWOR is at least a half inch thick.
Duh, it says 1/2" right on the picture
A little digging on the Stans parts show a 1/4" flange

3-y for torque, 4-1 for horsepower. LCE makes the best 4-1 if you want to go that way. Gains aren't mind blowing for either, more noise than anything.

if money is not a problem than im for nwor tri-y had one loved it couldnt afford another one... yet. sold the old one on a truck. No gasskets no headaches. and it looks so pretty when it turns colors from the heat.

x2 on the thorley, have had them on my last three trucks.

The one on ftoy I bought used and its still in good shape being 5 or more years old. Thick flange 1/2" material. Good for torque which is good for wheeling.

Well I've decided on a stock exhaust system for now! I really need to get this project going and I can get a used system from a local guy that is still in good condition for cheap. I want to get the new motor in and get flatbed on and then save up for a exhaust later! At least I know where to look for headers later, thank you!

FWIW the stock exhaust manifold is somewhat like a header with its scavenging effect already there.
