my neighbor has a guy he's trying to help out with his truck so I'm just trying to find out any info I can to make it easier on him. basically the motor is ****ed and needs to be replaced. whats it roughly going to cost for a long block?

here's the long story if you care, or you're just really bored.....

the guy has had issues the last few weeks with his early 90's toyota truck. today he finaly had it put on a scope and they told him 2 cyl's on teh driver side have no compression so he's been driving with a blown head gasket for about two weeks now (leaking into the cyl). he continues to drive it to try and get it back to my neighbors house and over heats on the way there so he shut it down and had his wife bring coolant.. the engine "seized" when he tried to restart it after it overheated ( I'm assuming hydrolocked). he eventually got it started again and got it here. when my neighbor got home I walked over there and he was under the hood while his wife was tapping the ignition just to get it to turn over a little and BAM big ass clank. Sounds like a busted rod or something to that effect. it was supposed to be a simple head gasket replacement side job but now its a full engine swap.

that was my first suggestion but I'm not clear on the exact details of that conversion. All I know if you need the wiring adapter, is there anything else that has to be done?

nevermind. I just looked on pirate and the conversion is more work then he's looking to do. I guessing they need the fastest turn around time possible and its already going to take a while since it will be a job to do after he gets home from work.

really the only options are the 3.4 or v8 or a 4.3 gm. The 3.4 will take more time but will work the best. I would stay away from the 3.0 even if it were free.

3.4 isnt too bad. I looked into it a lot. Its basically the same work as a replacement 3.0, and most of the parts from the 3.0 swap over and can be used on the 3.4 (oil pan and pickup, fan, etc) so the Offroad Solutions expensive kit isnt really needed, just the bare minimum kit, or the harness alone. The biggest problem in my book would be the hood clearance, but a small body lift would take care of that.
